audio to midi, cv to cc?

Are there any effects that translate the audio signal into a midi cc value. I was hoping for some sample and hold type things as well in the plugin. I realize that midi is not as fast as 44100 Hz or anything like that but are there any plugins that at least do some s&h type stuff? I would like to know. It may sound interesting and could probably do some cool sequencing sounding stuff in hosts like energyXT.

try the enveloper in my sig to change amp into CC. For sample and hold... maybe I could whip something up.

Yeah, i definately think this concept could be expanded on. Thanks soma! I think something even separate from the enveloper could work, like a midi s&h.
