I'm searching a VST/DX (or standalone software filter, or function in Wave editors...) that copy the dynamic of a wave "A" (for example a battery loop) and apply it to another wave "B" (for example a continous strings sound), without affect the pitch or timbre but only the dynamic.

In this ipothetic plugin, the dynamic of "B" will result = to dynamic of "B".

If in time "t1" wave "A" = -3 dB and wave "B" = -20 dB, the plugin make this operation: difference between -3 and -20 = 17 dB, so the plugin rise by 17 dB the wave "B";

If in time "t2" wave "A" = -12 dB and wave "B" = 0 dB, the plugin decrease by 12 dB the wave "B"

Anyone know if it exist? :?:

Thanks to alls :)

Sorry, errata corrige:

<< In this ipothetic plugin, the dynamic of "B" will result = to dynamic of "B". >>

is:

In this ipothetic plugin, the dynamic of "B" will result = to dynamic of "A".

I think what you're looking for is 'cross-synthesis'. I don't know of any plugins that strictly do it but there is a very powerful audio editor for mac called the audiosculpt. It most certainly does it.

There's Elevayta Cloneboy that does something similar to cross-synthesis:

Sounds like a "talk-box" to me.

Nope, it's two envelope followers plus a gain to compensate the difference.
My MusicCalc is temporary offline.

huh cookie? think about that for a second :?

'MDA talk-box' is actually a good "poor mans" version of cross-synthesis now that I think about it. Worth a try.

Try elemental audio's Firium EQ....or Elevayta freEQ boy maybe?

???

He wants to copy the dynamics! not frequency balances!

The "Dynamic clone" must make a comparison between the two waves sample-by-sample (or in biggers time intervals... an editable parameter), for transforming the dynamic of "B" in the dynamic of "A"

Another example :roll: :

If A = -3 dB and
B = -3 dB,
then after process B is = -3 dB (the difference is 0, so nothing happen :wink: )

In other words, if the dynamic of A is the same that the dynamic of B in every sample of both waves, the filter make nothing.

actually this sounds exactly like what an expander ("gate") with sidechain would do.

edit: well, not "exactly", since you seem to be speaking of some kind of "absolute" db's (which they aren't). But I don't know why this would be a good idea anyway.

Post

Yes, Bleebsen, I speak about absolute dB's.
It mean that, if in t1 "A" is 0 dB and "B" is -100, this filter must rise "B" by 100 dB (so, a lot of noise in t1 :? , but this is a extreme ipothesys).

In Kantor (or is it Kantos?) by Antares, you can duplicate any element combined or solo of an input, and apply it to the output.
Unfortunately the output can only be generated using the builtin synthesis, which isn't that bad, but still it limits you alot.
So you'd be able to copy dynamics of A, but B, the destination won't be free of choice: It's gotta be a sound made with the internal synth made with the Antares product.

Ferfe Fuffu,

might be a good idea to look into SynthMaker or SynthEdit, where you could create this yourself with relative ease. :wink:

Sounds like job for Niall's Amplitude Imposer.
