highly imaginative title, ehh?

fooling around (err, testing) with effects and samples, I ran across a patch for the Sun Ra VSTi that reminded me of my last piece. So I slapped it all together to make this time/tempo evolving piece.
but it never stays in one tempo long enuf for me to figure it out.

 I mean, I composed this specifically for this month's contest :D

Here is my entry. Scherzo in G minor, 9/8 time. Basically, a classical piece for a quartet of soft synths. Hope you enjoy it.

 The Golden Pavilion

-------------------------------------------

i'm not quite clever enough to determine the exact time signature here - i set eXT to 9/8 and attempted built the rhythm up live, noticing that my beats fell somewhat askew i think i may have ended up elsewhere. anyhow, the rhythm provides a bed for improvised piano, voice and cello to meander somewhat.

a couple of weeks ago i visited kyoto and the lyrics are derived from visiting the golden pavilion which forms part of the rokuon-ji temple complex:

kinkaku-ji
golden temple
indulge this peaceful life
in serene accordance

all those days of ruin
harmonious

100 years
gold of chinese phoenix
settles on
thatch of shingle
where starlights fall

eXT, sr-202, plugsound free, sfz with fitch's cello and a temple gong soundfont, kjaerhus classics, discoDSP EQ, ixox's octadel and PSP vintage warmer

We're the 'other ones' and we're here. Jerry had to hurry in the third part of the 'guitar-solo', because we had only 2 minutes to tell the story. Reason was involved, Samplitude SE (que pesado!), Sir and some other effects, mainly in Reason. And the envelopes. 11/8, btw.
'García' is here in the clouds again:

(scroll down, then click free, wait 20 seconds, type the code and that's it!)
It's a 5/8 song that I think would have its place on a video game, with a lot of shiny colors and dragonflies...
This song was made with psycle, I sampled my guitar for this and added virtual instruments and real sounds from drums, final mixing on wavelab, cheers! Vince

Somebody had to do a 6/8 blues tune, so I did.

Turned Down Blues.

Words by Melanie.
Vocals by my sister, Agent E.

Yes,I will bring in hot chicks to help write and do vocals on a Col.G song.
I will go to any length to entertain you guys and get your votes!

I would post pictures of them, but we all know what happened the last time somebody did that in the contest submissions thread.
I will post the lyrics instead:

"Got The Turned Down Blues" by M.Arnold, Col.G

Drivin To Work
Pulled Up To The Pump
Start The Day Right
I Said, FILL HER ON UP!
Attendant Looked Down
And Shuffled About
You Won't Believe This Buddy
But WE JUST RAN OUT!

Chorus:
I Got The Turned Down Blues
I Got The Turned Down Blues
I Got The Turned Down Blues
And Baby, Do I feel Blue

Late To Work
Lookin For Gas
New Boss Fired Me
Threw Me Out On My Ass

Chorus:

Sped Up To The Bank
Just Around Four
Got Outa My Car
TELLER WAS LOCKIN THE DOOR!

Chorus:

Well Things Just Weren't
Goin My Way
Was Turning Into
A Rotten Day!
Went To See
My Good Friend Jeff
Sue Picked Up The Phone And Said
OH, HE JUST LEFT!
