Can any host do this?

Hi, I'm looking for a way to trigger the notes of a specied sequence by using a controller ala TD20 sequencer. For example, on the TD20 you could make a sequence, then you could use a single pad, trigger or cymbal to play each note on that sequence one right after the other. That way you could trigger a different bass note on a sequence with each succesive hit on the kick drum and always have your sequence follow your playing. I'm trying to trigger the notes of the lead line of a song by using only one note or by using a fadder on a controller. Could this be done with Abelton live, Cubase, a VST plug-in, shareware program, or do I have to go hardware?

I've heard something like that can be done with Ableton and FLstudio, not sure about individual notes though

This is the kind of thing I was hoping to get Jo to add to Muzys 3.xx. Using a trigger to step through a sequence like this is a really nice thing to be able to do. Being able then to have that sequence control other things would be really tasty. (That is, not just have each "note" be a pitched note but maybe a sample - depending on where you direct each event.)
I think it would need to be an MFX plugin, really, and I've not used a host that supports them.
(Now I'll have to think of a way of to persuade Jo to add it to LUNA 1.x...)

Logic can do it with the Touch Tracks Feature:

Well, here's the obligatory 'you need to get Energy XT' reply.
it can do that all you want.
you can make a midi sequence in a MIDIpart comp, and trigger it in a number of different ways. You can make a whole bunch of parts in one MIDI comp, and trigger them all in different ways.
You can make AN AUDIO SEQUENCE IN AN AUDIO COMP, AND TRIGGER IT FROM A MIDI SOURCE

and of course it can all be host syced etc.
the Sequencer comp also has a fantastic 'live mode'.
seriously, get EnergyXT, and leave all your host troubles behind.
Oh, also, it can be used as a VSTi or VSTfx, inside your current host, to add that functionality to whatever you want to use.
there ya go.
i have just solved your dilema. It only costs 50 bux.
go here: http://www.xt-hq.com/ and get the demo, then go here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=36 to the forum for all the advice you could want.
and some you might not want

I am doing exactly this but it took quite a while to set it up. I did it using Bidule. The "programming" for it took a few nights to get the kinks out. What happens is when I hit my kick, it iterates through a sequence of notes which I route to a VST that plays bass. I also have a reset switch in case I get out of sequence somehow (false triggers, etc) and also have an input to send Note Off. I also have another footswitch that can iterate through "scenes". Like verse/chorus/etc.jespino2 wrote:Hi, I'm looking for a way to trigger the notes of a specied sequence by using a controller ala TD20 sequencer. That part works great, the issue I'm having is with false triggering. When I play full volume, my triggers just go off on their own, even the snare sets it off. I will have to toy more w/ the settings on my trigger interface (a drumkat). The downside to this is that improvisation is kinda down the tube since I have to follow exactly the pattern. Not a big deal but something I hadn't thought about.
I own eXT so I'm curious to try out the methods mentioned above...
