Do you like Pressure, the free version of this plugin, but you find yourself wanting to pay $5 for much more flexibility? Well, have I got a deal for you! With More Pressure you can tweak a variety of compressor settings to get the sound that you want.

What exactly is More Pressure? Have you ever wanted a mastering compresssor that was dead-easy to use? A compressor that just made things louder without really having to worry about the best Ratio, Attack, and Release settings for a specific task, but provided a way for adjusting these settings? A compressor that didn't over-compress attack transients, robbing your track of all the excitement of explosive hits? A compressor that was downright freaky looking?

Well, More Pressure is the compressor for you. Using a technique called upward compression, More Pressure increases the level of quiet portions in a mix without reducing the level of attack transients like a traditional compressor. There are just 3 main parameters: Amount of compression, look-ahead, and gain control. If you want to really get freaky, you can use the "tweak" controls. It couldn't be easier.

Woh. For a second there I was really impressed. That would have been the fastest crack ever...it's not like there's any copy protection on it, though...

How does it sound
The default settings of More Pressure are the same as those for Pressure. So, you start with the exact same sound. The extra benefit of More Pressure is that you can adjust the properties of the underlying compression algorithm. The default values for these settings are those recommended by Bob Katz in his excellent book, Mastering Audio, the art and the science. Since it's an upward compressor, these settings can be used in a lot of instances, however, if you want to really tweak the compressor, you're able to with More Pressure. The compression ratio goes from 1:1 to 100:1, and the attack and release times go from 0.0001 seconds to 2 seconds (measured in ms). The threshold can be adjusted from 0dB down to -50 dB.

Great offer ! But I decided rather save another 5 Bucks and wait for MOST PRESSURE, or maybe UTTERMOST PRESSURE.

*ahem*

just crossed my mind. aetmos, you're just using the *free* compressor that comes with SynthMaker with a new GUI slapped on, right?

sounds a bit dubious...

if this is anyway near true, people should really be using this:

at least it's not claiming to be "mastering compressor", even if it features upward compression.

No, I started with that as a model, but it's had a handful of modifications. Anywho, I don't see how it's dubious...if you don't want it, don't buy it.

Oh, and I implemented upward compression in my own way, which is different from what's in the freebee that you linked to. And I still don't see what's wrong with calling it a mastering compressor. My goal was to create a compressor that would make it easy to compress things lightly, but give a reasonably transparent sound. To do this, I followed Bob Katz's advice on using upward compression. At the lighter levels, it's fairly transparent. Moreso than a lot of compressors. I've also made it possible to crank things way up, especially in "More Pressure", which reveals more of the sound of the compressor than it would had I given less of a range of variables.
