Indeed, but who can blame anyone for getting defensive when they get attacked in such a fashion. I'm sure many of us would feel the same. Why should dev's just sit and take the crap (or is that KrapChocoLatteRabbit wrote:You're mostly right, Lovesign. We're mostly good people, at heart, here on KVR. The problems AQ is experiencing began when he started insulting us very early on in this thread or the other thread on the same topic that he started at the same time, when we heaped great compliments upon his work and offered a few sensible comments for improvement. AQ in return insulted us and so everyone got defensive and reacted accordingly.
I'll gladly try a demo when he's finished, if he offers one to us.
The one criticism we can make without this petty bickering is by buying or not buying the product. If a product doesn't sell, it's a clear indication that something is wrong and the dev should address it. If the dev requests customer feedback, sure, let them know, but at least in a constructive way.
Anyway, in typical KvR fashion, we digress.....

Oh, now we're "unlearned".
KVR amazes me in that I can learn something new and have a really interesting dialogue one minute, and the next wish that I could send a 10,000 volt electrical charge through my keyboard.

Krim,
Before you spend too much more time agonizing over Admiral's GUI you might want to correct the spelling on this site : http://homepage.ntlworld.com/kriminal.uk/Karnage.html

THATS RIGHT. Here you are dissin' this birthing piece of technology, for no purpose at all. Just because one or two your little "KVR Friends" don't like a little modulator knob, of course you all gotta jump on the bandwagon. You haven't even used the synth yet! But you sit here with nothing better to do and judge it based on it's appearance. Didn't your momma ever tell you to not judge a book by it's cover?jplanet wrote:camsr wrote:I like the GUI. I don't consider anything AQ said insulting, i'm just concerned that he may be a little short-sighted.
It doesn't effect me personally, I either have purchased whaqt I feel I need or have planned all my future potential purchases, so I would be very unlikely to buy this anyway.
But if I were on the lookout for a new va synth the ergonomics of this particular synth (if the size, quality & layout of the posted piccies are a true representation of it) would instantly put me off, it wont fit on my 1024x768 screen - & it's just so immediately apparent that the main cause of that is the very large but still virtually illegible without squinting silver dials.
CPU munching - wioth a p4 3ghz as minimum spec. is another issue.
To be then told - 'well get a bigger monitor &/or change the resolution of your monitor'? - y'all can see where i'm going with this?
I'm not dissing, i'm just hoping that AQ will think carefully about this - especially if he's hoping to have some return for his hard work/commercial success.
Initial impressions last & are critical.
Looking lovely - great, he's gained a point there.
but next comes useability, ergonomics etc. - that's a little more suspect.
In such a crowded market it's so easy to quickly demo something, find it hard to use/tweak (see?) and have it eat out your cpu - then no matter how good it may sound just delete the demo from ones hard-drive before giving it a really fair trial.
If he really wants prospective customers to focus on a bloody gorgeous sound, but at a potentially realtively huge cpu hit everything else needs to be as near perfect as possible so that the sound quality vs. cpu hit is all that is on that prospective customers mind, as they weigh the pro's & cons.

edit:
Thanks for fixing the problem by the way - you may continue your pointless rant without interruption from me ...

I like the GUI but it's too big. That will be very annoying on a 17" monitor. This is a very important issue because most people only have either a 17" or 19" monitor.
