512 meg on XP with both SX & a high number of reason devices

but do note as regards memory in my test example i only have 1 subtractor loaded plus the combinator effect devices.

Whats the pci latency on your graphics card?

it's at 255 on the Radeon

Yeah - that's unnecesarily (bad spelling - i'[m tired) high.
Use the pci latency tool & take it down to 32 or 64 or so - think I have mine running at 32, even if that doesn't cure your problem it should help.
