I see all the questions on mixing and mastering. I thought I would just create a poll so that we could get some hard stats.

Poll is not appropriate IMO. How can Wavelab and soundforge be a mixing software? And Beasts like Nuendo/Cubase is not added in the list.

Using Tracktion2 now, but I'm going to evaluate Reaper since it has folder tracks and when you're dealing with a crapload of audio channels it makes life a Lot Easier(tm).

yep, most hosts nowadays are plenty good for mastering,
bring your downmix back in and double click it
your ready to master

Yeah Wavelab is the best for mastering, That is if we are talking true mastering, which includes everyting from audio processing to track arranging to cd text to cd burning etc. etc.

Obviously you can do all processing within your host(cubase Sonar) and also do song arranging and so forth, but WL is just WAY more streamlined for mastering. IT is by far the best in the field. And has a phenomenal Audio editor IMO.

BUt mixing most likely would be done in the host, althogh Wavelab is completely capable of this as well,, I just never tried it. This is where Cubase(or any other sequencer) works best..

I really like using AA2.0, I have Sonar5 SE...I've never tried wavlab or samplitube, so I can't make any comparisons to either of those. Sound Forge and pt I only have experience with earlier editions (back when I was in retail) so I'm sure so much has changed there it would be hard to remain objective.

AA fills my all recording live audio, multi-tracking, mixing, editing, and mastering needs. FL, eXT, and Sonar are good for sequencing and of course Sonar is great for recording as well, but the edit view in AA is quite nice and intuitive, not to mention handy....
