LiveSlice in ACID 6

I can't get LiveSlice to work in ACID 6. I open LiveSlice in ACID 6. Assign it to a midi track. Load a loop in LiveSlice and then place midi data on the midi track at C3. Instead of the loop playing as in ACID 5 there is just one long beep.
LiveSlice works in ACID 5 on my system but not in ACID 6.
Anyone else having this problem or know how to solve it?

I'll download the demo and test it myself. ACID 5 did some things in a non-standard way, so I had to adapt liveslice to that. My guess is I can have LiveSlice running in ACID 6 by changing that back (then it won't work in ACID 5... If I'm lucky they started reporting the version number now...) - the Sony devs don't speak fluent VST it seems...

Thanks for looking into this. I have an ACID 'new project' template that always opens LiveSlice because I use it in every new project. I think quite a few people use it in ACID.ohm wrote:I'll download the demo and test it myself. ACID 5 did some things in a non-standard way, so I had to adapt liveslice to that. The Sony dev's swear that they are the ones following the VST protocol so in their arrogance they often dismiss the problem. But like you say, in ACID, VST's seem to work differently with each new version so I think Sony are the ones who lack consistency.

I've been looking into the problem, and although I hate for one of my users to risk getting cought in a "host vs. plugin" stride, this really is a bug in ACID 6 - please report it to them.
To be honest, I really think you should consider buying a VST / DX wrapper - LiveSlice can't possibly be the only VST acting weird in ACID - every version the VST implementation is different, and introducing new bugs as the old are fixed...
Anyhow, here's a description of the bug introduced in ACID 6: I'm relying on the ppqPos field of the VstTimeInfo struct for the timing in LiveSlice. ACID reports that the data is ok by setting the ppqPosValid flag, but the value is always zero, causing playback to hang in LiveSlice.
I'll look into making manual synchronization more reliable in ACID, so you can use that as a workaround while waiting for the bug to be fixed (right now manual sync seem to be troubled by a hack I made to prevent skipping slices in ACID 5, sigh...)
Time to switch to Energy XT perhaps?

Several people has reported Acid/vst plugin synchronisation issues in the Sony forum. I'm also pretty sure i saw someone from Sony acknowledge it and said it would be fixed in the next update.ohm wrote:I've been looking into the problem, and although I hate for one of my users to risk getting cought in a "host vs. plugin" stride, this really is a bug in ACID 6 - please report it to them.

btw. LiveSlice 1.4 will work in "manual sync" mode in ACID 6, and it will be released this friday, so at least a workaround will be available soon.

Thanks for your help. I'll inform Sony of this problem. I don't know why they keep messing up the VST implimentation. Maybe they go out for a beer half way through and then forget to complete it the next day.
The cheeky thing is that Sony blame everyone else for not sticking to the VST protocol. They seem to be displaying symptoms of personality disorder at Sony.
