Isn't it?
DJ use dubplates to test new tunes I think, esp. when they produced them themselves.

a loooooong time ago (in school), i worked the media for a lecture on aids .... one of the speakers was paticularly graphic in his speech and i sampled a bunch of phrases to a Emulator II in hopes of making the ultimate homophobe dance tune (rim rim ri ri ri rrrr rimming), but alas never got to it....and i don't have a floppy drive handy, i don't even know if i still have the discs (a smart person would have dubbed the tape, eh?)

bnasically. The groove isnt very deep so they dont sound as good as typical presses and dont last very long. 99% of them are white labels.Bonteburg wrote:kind of like a record that's only good for 20 play or so - and you don't want to go to the trouble & expenses to make thosusands of real ones.spuddle wrote:What's a dubplate though?

Didn't Portishead use dubplates to make their samples authentic sounding ?
