Just seeing what anybody thought of their packs. Is it worth $30 for a pack? I just recently upgraded to Battery 2.0 so I will have 3.5GB of drum samples from that... I'm not sure if it would be worth it or if the Battery 2.0 standard library would fill my hip hop needs. Any insight on this?

They are decent but not great. I just picked up a Zoom SB-246 and has very thing a hip-hip beat maker could want. The sound quality is excellent...

I would rather keep it software based. It seems like there are a bunch of places that do samplesets... The demos over at moderbeats sounded good. Is there any software or set of samples that are exceptional for hip hop?

I've bought packages from modernbeats, as well as banging beats. I'd go with modern beats if you want more clean, synthesized type kicks and all, but if you want dirty drums and snares (by that I mean lo-fi) then i'd go with banginbeats. The only probably I have with either one is that modern beats' drums almost always sound the same, as well as the fact that their kits lack greatly in the cymbal department. I find myself heading to kits from both places when I sit down to do some music. As a matter of fact, here is something me and friend were working on earlier. It uses the modern beats drums.

They always fit very well in a mix, just throw them in and go. that's what I love about the modernbeats drums. Bangin beats takes a little bit of messing around with at times to get them to mix in well, drums especially.

(Sorry for the bad mix, we just started on like half a verse tonight.)
Hope this helps.
