one good thing about Fl slicer and Live is that they read mp3s, i wish other slicers would be so kind

Thanks to this thread i decided to try the LiveSlice demo...
It's exactly what i've been looking for. Sure, it has a few rough edges - but it's very functional and i achieved some interesting results within minutes of firing it up. Plus, it works really well in FLStudio - it fuctions differently to the FL slicer, in a way that is more intuitive and less fiddly.
It's a great little app; it's going on my "to buy" list.

That's excellent. Jacob deserves all the business he can get.Dunbar wrote:It's a great little app; it's going on my "to buy" list.
I rave about Liveslice often, but it is the only app I've gotten in the last two years that has completely changed the way I do things. It makes its way into almost everything I work on these days. And every update has made it better, which is kind of surprising, since that isn't always the case with software.

shamann, do you use liveslice at the end of an effects chain/net or at the beginning - i.e. do you run liveslice through loads of effects, or do you run loads of effects into liveslice to slice and rearrange them there?
i am still not really coming to grips with this, always been meaning to talk to r.a.w. if we could meet up sometime so i can watch him using the software, since we live in the same city.
if anyone was savvy with making quick flash videos or screen-captured videos, example files of liveslice usage would be appreciated, too. i was very happy to see those examples at livelab.dk, but i wish there were more.
that's all i can think of right now, more thoughts on this maybe later.

I usually use it before effects. I've been using it mostly like a sequencer these days, so it sort of always starts off the chain. I tend to either capture instruments I play into it or load samples I've pre-recorded, then use effects further down, especially helpful with the multiouts.fabi wrote:shamann, do you use liveslice at the end of an effects chain/net or at the beginning - i.e. do you run liveslice through loads of effects, or do you run loads of effects into liveslice to slice and rearrange them there?

We'll be releasing this (as FL & VSTi plugins) in the future:

It's actually not a drumloop rearranger, but a slicer, well an audio editor with slicing, looping, etc. So no MIDI import, but easy drag/drop of slices or the full thing onto FL (the score file can then be saved from the fruity slicer).
It's made to communicate with FL, other other tools as long as they can read standard wav markers (unfortunately there are a lot of sliced drumloop formats out there).
