I have to take that back cause I heard Endtyme was actually pretty good.

Can't play vinyl here anymore though I still own some. Got some Brand X that I need to get my buddy Ivan to dump to digital for me in the near future. But a sincere thanks for the offer. I miss big album art for sure. I dream of a day when albums are distributed as little USB drives (320 kbps) with giant album-sized laminated artwork hanging off of it like a keychain; along with a voucher for .wavs if you show up at the store with a portable drive.Hink wrote:there's an awesome vinyl store in town http://www.rrrecords.com/ if you find it there I will check it out for yah and pick it up for yah if you like Shane...
I don't have a flat surface here for a record player. It would end up being a wreck as my cat will inevitably perch on it.

It's good. Kind of psychedelic in spots. Carnival Bizarre doesn't do much for me as a whole, but there are some good riffs on it and it is produced well.Sickle wrote:I have to take that back cause I heard Endtyme was actually pretty good.
Evoken is worth anyone's time, though. Funeral doom at the slowest pace...dreamy, exotic, heavy..

Confessor f**king rule!! and after almost 15 years from thir last album, not counting the 3 song Demo/mini-cd without vocals, They are probably BETTEr than before, although the drummer used to be the absolute Best metal drummer of his time, HE still is great, but on Condemned his beats where just unreal. And I like the way the singer was on the first album, even though he was ridiculously high!! But he has come down abouyt and octave and still has a real mangled sense of melody. I think they are a band that fills a void in heavy music..Shane Sanders wrote:I only have these at the moment:Sickle wrote:Damn, man..you got me wanting to hear the Run to the Light album now..haven't listened to that one in years..

I used to room with a guy who had Run to the Light on vinyl, though, so I've heard it but can't remember it except for good impressions. Did you ever get into the North Carolina band Confessor? If not, to me they represent some of the best odd riffs and original approach to doom as anybody. http://confessorband.com/ ...detuned madness with an original singer
Currently, Evoken is my fave doom band. They're new to me but apparently have been kind of seminal. I live in a sheltered world, limited by cash and by time.

There's another store here run by three brothers (they are all kinda first rate jerks, they talk down to everyone by rule), they have a huge collection of 45s and videos, but they get so little business the still have a section of new vinyl, except it's been in their inventory for at least 15 years. They actually will put an album on a cassette for ten bux
My daughters dentist and eye doctor are right downtown and on the same street, so I stop in and check out the used cds when I'm downtown, which is as little as possible. Lowell isn't a big city, but it's still to big for me...I live way outside of town. But if anyone wants me to check on the condition of something the guy from the link I posted has it's no problem...

I would love to see that happen, these guys get on my nerves....they told me that they could put any album on cassette and it would be better than I could do at home...I laughed at him when he showed me a twenty year old cassette deck and that was it. I asked about pop and clicks and he responded that it was vinyl and there was little that could be done...so much for doing a better job than I could do using AA2.0Jason Brian Merrill wrote:hmmmm.... interesting interpretation of copyright laws. the RIAA should hear about this one!!!Hink wrote: They actually will put an album on a cassette for ten bux

But if putting vinyl on cd is illegal, then why is there pop and click removal software? It seems that perhaps the RIAA looks at such things through two different looking glasses. Kinda like some half brats/half punk adults...they are old and mature when it suits them..."I'm an adult, it's my life, I'm gonna do what I want because I know it all" But then when it comes to elders we are all old and burnt out, and they are still young and still soooooooooo cool
I still wonder though why they are cd burners for your stereo if you can't copy, why are there vhs/dvd decks if you can't copy? Why is there pop and click removal if you can't copy? They sell you the gear to do it, than tell you not to.
Damn I hate hypocrites, why don't they just tell the truth...it isn't about copying, it's about us independent musicians being able to make cds and distribute them without the help of the all so cool RIAA. I believe that's their true agenda, not to stop the piracy of music (software is different), but to stop any unsigned person from selling their own music online so they can once again dupe artists out of their money with their stranglehold. The sad part is they think we are stupid enough to believe them and even worse, most of us would sign on the line. Myself included, but I would likely be very critical of every single letter on the contract, and probably why I wouldn't get one...

there is inded something fishy about the whole thing.
i have heard it said before, that the record companies simply dont want to believe if they put out crap, no one will buy it
they are use to having control.

Because some people's DAW's will record clicks and pops, be it because of slower processors, too many programs running in the background, not enough memory, conflicting devices, IRQ crap, devices not configured properly, etc., etc,. etc...Hink wrote:But if putting vinyl on cd is illegal, then why is there pop and click removal software?
I don't get many, but occasionally I'll get a pop or two on an otherwise brilliant performance. Thank god for that software. If it gets all illegalized because of some stupid vinyl to cassette deal, I'll be one upset puppy.

Sorry, and no offense but if you have enough pops from your recording to need this, then you need to think about a better machine, freeze, less effects, rendering or some other form of prevention. Personally, one pop and I would trash the take and re-do it right. But I also use direct monitoring on my soundcard so I never have any latency issues, which allows me to run my buffers pretty large (19ms with ASIO)...so I don't ever have that worry.
As you see from the two it's clear what the intended use is, to do what you speak of is an added benefit of the very good restoration effects that AA has...not the point of it...seeing how that is Adobe I would assume they are quite on top of copyright laws...Adobe Audtion 2.0 Manual wrote: Auto Click/Pop Eliminator effect
If you need to quickly remove crackle and static from vinyl. first try the Restoration> Auto Click/Pop Eliminator effect
Click/Pop Eliminator effect
The Restoration>Click/Pop Eliminator effect detects and removes clicks and pops. Like the Auto Click/Pop Eliminator effect, this effect is ideal if you want to clean up the sound of vinyl recordings before transferring them to CD or another digital medium. The Click/Pop Eliminator, however, provides a much wider range of controls, letting you customize settings to repair other transient artifacts such as vocal plosives or radio static
