1) I still need a VST that will allow me to
* input a specific Midi channel and CC#
to change it into a different channel and CC#
* so that I can, say, make Channel 2's CC# 108
into Channel 3 CC# 74
It seems pretty straightforward but I haven't found such a VST yet.

2) A VST that has slots for midi notes
* so that I could assign midi note C3
to send out midi assigned to say send a message of 33 to Channel 1 CC #78,
90 to Channel 8 CC #97, 77 to Channel 3 CC #111
* and then assign midi note B3 to
send out midi messages to send a message of 55 to Channel 1 CC #78,
66 to Channel 8 CC #97, 120 to Channel 3 CC #106
just as an example,
thus enabling one to assign a sort of bank of CC/channel presets to keys
so that you hit the key desired and the assigned parameters of a synth or effect
leap to the required setting.

Of course, assigning them to note values is just what I want in this instance;
I think it would be worthwhile to have a button on the VST's GUI to recall those
settings or some other method of input that doesn't come to mind offhand.

I realize I should email nicfit or soma with such a request but I thought I'd
throw it out here first for feedback.

What host are you using?

You can do all that in Cubase (transformer midi plug) or Logic (transformer object in environment) already...

FLStudio.
Weird, I never heard it mentioned that Cubase does all that.
I guess that would change my opinion of Cubase to a degree
though I can't see using it for live performance & plus I'm poor ;)

I got a nice PM refering me to Guru's GOMP which I'm going to go check out.

Well the general public that use it are, let's just say noobs, while Cubase/Nuendo is actually a powertool with far too many advanced features often overlooked.

Go figure. :shrug:

It's good for live as well (depending in *what kind* of live).

I doubt there are many hosts at all with Cubase/Nuendos MIDI capabilities in fact, plenty of good midi plugins included, and plenty of advanced functionality as standard. Logic is about the same, although the 'environment' is not directly comparable. ext has a nice modular midi approach too.

I think more plug-ins that can be brought into the host instrument as a random patch generator or instruments being developed with random patch generators standard would be very helpful. It really helps to get the creative juices flowing when creating new patches/noises.

A girl like that is rarer than penis reduction surgery......

I agree - I've never figured out how to make a bank correctly (even though
I save .fxbs) nor have I figured out how to send patch change messages
(mostly because that's never been necessary for me) but I'd like to be able to.
Seems to me that a preset-bank-wrapper that actually holds your preset .fxps
in little slots that can be recalled would be really sweet.
