Damn - after not using tracktion for quite a while i'd kinda forgotten about stepbeater.
Been playing with it just now, it really is quite a neat little step sequencer with some nice functions isn't it?

It's cool.
the ability to change the number of divisions per beat on each track individually, on different sements of the same track & the shift function helps add a little groove to snares & hats - whilst still being simple to use.
That individual drum track beat division function was one of the things missing from guru (an otherwise excellent product), although there were workarounds involving using multiple engines - but that was an added layer of complexity & involved switching between multiple pages & patterns (i'm a simplesoul at heart).
More divisions per beat would be nice in stepbeater, but i'm not complaining
