Hi there,
How can I change the root key information from a sample? I'm trying to construct a ds-404 instrument, but every sample is read with C3 = root key.

Hi,
Go to your sample list and press the second function button to go to the 'edit' screen. Then the third function button to go to the 'tune' screen. Then press the first function button to select the root note (actualy it should already be on root note by default). And finaly turn the knob next to the function buttons to select the root note.

Kalkin's instructions are spot on 
One thing you should also know is that most wave editors like Cool Edit or Wavelab can auto-detect the pitch and set the root note in the file automatically when you save it. If you've got a lot of samples to load and map, this can be a time saver.

Thanks for the help guys, I missed that one.
My wave editor, Samplitude, doesn't really do anything with root key, loop points, etc. I have an old copy of CoolEdit Lite, maybe I'll install it again and see what it can do.

In Cool Edit 2000, go to "view" and then "sampler info". You can input MIDI unity note data and loops there. When you save the file, make sure you have the box marked "save extra non-audio information" ticked.
