Nope.. He can't seem to get that part right yet. Maybe after a good flame war he'll get better.Sascha Franck wrote:Hey, I didn't write that!chickeneps wrote:Sascha Frank wrote:I'm not trying to ruffle your feathers. I agree that Translator supports more formats, does more stuff, and cost more money but but they are mostly formats and hardware things we don't use very often.

Posting rules and what people say are ultimately up to the moderators, I guess. I was just saying that when I mentioned Translator on what was perceived as a ESC thread, I got flamed for simply posting and mentioning Translator (this was when ESC didn't have any support). I don't know why. Perhaps theres a rule about that, that's what I was judged by then, at least. I'm not especially talking to you, I'm more talking anyone who reads this thread.
As far as I'm concerned you can post anything you want, I know what you say is very helpful. Some people really get up in arms, I don't, unless lots of misinformation starts floating around.

Sorry Sascha and tomg!
My fault, been a busy day and I was multi-tasking big time. I've changed the posts so they quote correctly.
My apologies!

That's not exactly true you can pretty much say anything about a product or a thing that you want. The people here will call you out on BS or misinformation in a flash though.chickeneps wrote: As far as I'm concerned you can post anything you want, I know what you say is very helpful. It's personal attacks that get you in trouble. So don't take it personally then attack. If you got flamed it's more that likely because you entered a hostle thread to start with. Ya gotta know when to skip the confrontation. For instance this is a nice side step.

Well, as for Chicken Systems....
I bought translator, and they *NEVER* shipped me the product. Oh, I was able to cobble together a working scenario for what I wanted to do, but I *PAID* for shipping a physical product, and no physical product was shipped.

Garth,
For the record, and for whatever it's worth, there is still a misattributed quote from tomg credited to me in one of your posts. This is important because that quote was in fact a response by him to me and my remark that I looked forward to a universal instrument builder application and wished you well in the enterprise.
Please note that I began by saying "Meanwhile, back on topic", clearly showing that I knew this was a thread initiated by Chickensys about a future product under development. Your program will be released someday, Wlodzimeirez has promised something similar for a future version of ESC, so since neither is released yet, it is appropriate to consider them both in terms of speculation about promised developments. And the fact that both are under development is relevant to the discussion of a universal instrument builder, as a general topic. Product discussions include comparisons between members of that product class all the time on KVR. But I did not compare them. I just mentioned the ESC development as a matter of fact.
I had no knowledge of the script function in Translator, which I do not use, before this thread. I never said anything about Translator. I do use ESC specifically because of its Wusik support, because that's my job. Are there plans to support WusikSND and or DASHsnd in Translator or the instrument builder?
Furthermore, for the record and for whatever it's worth, I have appreciated reading your posts on the general subject of sampling and format translation, here and on the EXS Yahoo list. I have found them to be educational and a fine contribution of knowledge to the community. But please do not impute to any remarks I have made in the discussion within this thread about VSampler and sf2 any implicit or explicit comparative evaluation of any Chickensys product to any other product as the superior or inferior of any Chikensys product.

Upon rereading this thread from page one, I realized that the thread was started by 1-2 Many, and not Garth to discuss his development of an instrument builder app. So, in fact, by tomg and I interacting with 1-2 Many on the general topic of creating soundfonts, everything any and all of us said was on topic. This may be a thread started by him calling our attention to the new Chickensys product, but it is not a Chickensys thread. It's a what tools are useful for building sampler instruments thread, so anything about that, and apps that are such tools is fair game.

Uhmmm.....FWIW Bassballjg, I actually started this thread.Bassballjg wrote:Please note that I began by saying "Meanwhile, back on topic", clearly showing that I knew this was a thread initiated by Chickensys about a future product under development.
I own Translator, and am a long time customer of Garth's. He's a great guy, but can sometimes get a little too passionate about his products for some people's tastes (which IMO is overall a good thing
Once you have more info Garth, please post it here or link you Constructor page...Thx

I meant I began the quote correctly attributed to me by Garth. Because you did begin the thread by noting the new Chickensys product, and were asking about tools for soundfont building. Then we went off on VSampler. So then I said, meanwhile, back on topic to say that Ilook forward to seeing what garth does with Constructor, and what Wlodimeires adds to ESC for instrument building.1-2-Many wrote:Uhmmm.....FWIW Bassballjg, I actually started this thread.Bassballjg wrote:Please note that I began by saying "Meanwhile, back on topic", clearly showing that I knew this was a thread initiated by Chickensys about a future product under development. You guys are all mixed up

Today,I was using a combination of VSampler, SoundForge and ManyMapper to do some sounds for a new Dash project. You have to have a variety of tools to work with multisample instrument creation, and you need to work with several to find which work well for you, and which work well together. It really is a great degree of trial and error. But now more developers like Garth and Wlodimierez are thinking interms of how to make this process more efficient and accessable. It's a really, really good thing.

I'd love to hear what your basic process is. Just getting started at this sort of thing I often worry I'm not using the right tools or doing it in the most efficient (timesaving) manner, and bygods can this stuff eat up time!Bassballjg wrote:It's all good.

My "clean-up" post (and lets hope I get the quoting right!)
Yes, I 100% agree with the last posts on this subject. It's great to have lots of tools to work with, it's a much better use of time to enjoy them instead of pitting one "against" the other. I hope I don't do that, my apologies if I do.

When you ordered the product, BEFORE YOU PAID FOR IT, it was told to you that the CD's were not in stock and that the download copy would work until the CD's arrived. There was no reason to "cobble together" anything. If there was a problem with the download copy, we post an 800 toll-free number to call in the US, another phone number to call if not, an email address and a forum address to contact if there's any problem.
The download copy is fully functional and identical to the one existing on the CD. The CD's will be shipped soon, but again they are for convenience and have nothing to do with functionality. If the CD is very important to you, again, you can comunicate that to us directly and we'll see what's possible.
If this is a complaint, AFAIK there is no room for any complaint. If you need any assistance, we are happy to give it and are even willing to pay for the communication.
Got it!
And thanks for the nice words. Onward!

I'd like to change it, but I'm sorry - I can't find it. Is it a quote within another persons post? If so, I can't change it. There is still at least one that has the wrong quote (again, ultimately my fault), tomg can change that if he wants to.Bassballjg wrote:For the record, and for whatever it's worth, there is still a misattributed quote from tomg credited to me in one of your posts.
