Got this BR in the mail:
I beleive the host is V-Stack. Can anyone confirm this in any host? When I adjust any slice parameter (such as pitch or pan) on this version - IF I don't let go of the mouse quickly enough, the value slider starts to creep upwards (making it difficult to finely adjust the values).

Bug fixes in LiveSlice 1.4 RC1 :
Conclusion : All the bugs I reported have been fixed... Nice update again Ohm

Carrying on more tests

1 - Load a loop
2 - Lock it to loop on the first track
3 - Add a new track
4 - Lock to loop the same loop to the second track
5 - Undo
The undo function, undoes the last 2 actions, instead of the last action.

--> FixedGilJ wrote: 2/ Parameter display :1. when changing a parameter, lifting the LMB and clicking the same event again, the highlighting and parameter display doesn't work anymore unless you click again.
i think it should display on every mouse-down and stop displaying on mouse-up.Same 'problem' here...
--> FixedGilJ wrote: Snap value display problem
1 - Load LiveSlice
2 - Clear All
3 - Select C1 (empty) Arrangement
4 - Change the track's snap value to any triplet value (I.E. 1/32T)
5 - Select another Arrangement
6 - Select the C1 Arrangement again
The tracks' snap value displays 1/16 (however the grid is in 1/32T)
--> FixedGilJ wrote: Track display problem
1 - Load a loop
2 - LMB Lock to loop (default)
3 - RMB Pitch button
4 - Set Pitch range to 48 (default)
5 - Pitch up the locked loop (I.E. +48 )
6 - RMB range 48 value (in order to set it to 2)
The track's display is not being updated completely : The horizontal pitch 'marker' is being updated, whereas the waveform (event) isn't (if you change the pitch, then it is updated...)

[LiveSlice 1.4 RC 1]
Ohm, nice release.
I like the colour adjust:
= try #598991 or #6d898e with Desaturation set to about 10-15%,
= if only I could save my own presets (coming later)
I noticed a couple of things:
When Trigger with Seq is On:
- selecting a new Arrangement causes it to be played
- on re-opening the saved song (in energyXT), LS started playing.
And the keyboard controls sometimes behaved oddly:
(that is, Left, Right, Up and Down arrows, Page Up/Down and Alt+1,2,3 etc)
- these issues can be reproduced, but I cannot define the precise steps to ensure they happen
- in some cases the 4 cursor arrows moved too quickly through several events or changing the parameters values
- in some cases LS did not respond to these keyboard controls at all
- in 2 cases, I got Page Up/Down to select the next/previous arrangement [C1 .. C#1 .. D1 etc]

thanks Darkstar, will try the colors - what chould I call the presets - are they made for specific skins?
the keyboard issues should be fixed by now, but please test that again in the next updates - the problem I fixed would cause random erratic behavior.
I'll look at the seq triggering issues.

SO far so good with the new update.
I must say i just read the prior posts and there are some REALLY great ideas and suggestions from all.
This plug has the potential to replace my use of Live if i couple it with Ext.
Here's a basic color scheme that looks alright:
Set all to #c42c1 and desaturation on all at 100%

I was going to request this. This would help alot.I thought about using TAB to move the keyboard focus between the arranger, slicer, loops list and file browser and add different key shortcuts to each.

unfortunately i had not much time to test yet (hopefully tomorrow), but i noticed one thing when i did a quick check in eXT:
on the midi-envs there's no real value indication, it just says "0" all the time.

Seems like the only small bug i noticed is the bar setting in the slicer view jumps from "4" to "32" instead of 4,8,16 etc. when utilizing the RMB.

weird - that doesn't happen on my system - it could be a symptom for some other bug somewhere, can someone else confirm this?Maniah wrote:Seems like the only small bug i noticed is the bar setting in the slicer view jumps from "4" to "32" instead of 4,8,16 etc. when utilizing the RMB.

Doesn't happen here either. BTW, I only now got to test the RC1 and it seems great! Hi, here are some minor B.R. I found :
Track display problem (MMB)
1 - Load a loop
2 - Lock to loop
3 - Pitch up any event of the Track (I.E. +48 )
4 - MMB the pitched event (in order to reset the pitch value)
The track's display is not being updated completely : the horizontal pitch 'marker' is being updated, whereas the "white box" of the event doesn't get expanded again
Lock to loop + Undo
1 - Load a loop
2 - Lock to loop
3 - Undo
The track's being deleted but the 'Lock to loop' button is still enabled (which should not be the case, as you now have an empty track with the 'Lock to loop' button enabled
) In order to lock a loop again, you must disable the lock button and enable it again
Locate button + modifying events
This is a behavior that I cannot always reproduce :
1 - Load a loop
2 - Lock to loop
3 - Click on the Play button
4 - Click on the Locate button
5 - Click on the Pitch button
6 - Draw some 'sine waves' on the track
Sometimes you can modify the pitch of the events ? (hard to reproduce, as it doesn't occur each time)
And now the good news : Ohm, the 'Trigger with seq' function works just like a charm for me, thanks
Cheers,
GilJ.

hi ohm,
today i finally had some time to dig deeper into testing. this is what i found:
1. when "manual sync" and "trigger with seq" are activated simultaniously the arrangements don't always start the loop on 1 (when starting the host transport from the beginning that is), it seems like the internal sequencer keeps running when transport is off.
perhaps these options should be exclusive, turning on "trigger with seq" should turn off manual sync automatically and vice versa.. also i think that the button should be labelled "trigger with host" (it also works in eXT's main window
).
2. when the keyboard shortcuts are used to select parameters selected slices in the slicer don't get de-selected like it's done when using the mouse. this can lead to inserts of (unwanted) events when clicking on event envelopes.
3. when "locate" is turned on and i drag a slice from the slicer to the arranger trying to overwrite an event, this event gets located instead of being replaced by the slice i just dragged. a possible fix for this could be to de-select locate as soon as a slice in the slicer gets selected using LMB (meaning not when selected by the locate-function itself
).
4. when a parameter is selected (e.g. volume) the new shortcut alt + "number" (in this case alt+1) deselects the parameter but activates the "lock" button. RMB on the parameter button of an active parameter just activates the lock while leaving the parameter selected.
5. when "locate" is active and a parameter is selected the faders don't work anymore until locate is deactivated.
6. when "locate" is active, the gui is closed and reopened, the locate button is not highlighted anymore but the function is still enabled. this can lead to irritating behaviour such as unwanted inserting of events and not responding parameter faders.

Hmm. I tried it this morning and it still is doing it. I'll just play around some more and see what happens.Maniah wrote:

To confirm some reported BRs:
GilJ's BRs
1 Track display problem (MMB) - confirmed
2 Lock to Loop and Undo - confirmed
3 Locate butotn and modifying events: confirmed (sort of)
- a) load a loop
- b) click [Lock to loop] to add it to the first track
- c) click [Pan] and adjust Pan positions
- All OK
- d) click [Locate] and adjust Pan positions
- Not Ok, the Existing Event's Pan position is not changed, instead a new Event is inserted
- e) click [Locate] off and adjust Pan positions
- f) OK again
RAW's BRs
2 - not confirmed, seems to deselect slices Ok here
3 - confirmed
4 - confirmed
5 - confirmed; as for GilJ's #3, a new Event is inserted and its parameter can be changed, but the existing event is not changed
6 - confirmed
PS I must be dumb, a couple of questions:
a) how are you meant to use the [Locate] function and what does it do? If a loop is missing on loading the song, then I get a Browse for file window before I even get to LiveSlice
b) I can select multiple events with Ctrl+click, but what can I do with them then (couldn't find a way to, say, adjust the Pan position of only the selected events).
c) I can Copy an Event with Ctrl+c, buy how do I paste it at a different position (preferably at the current mouse position (snapped if enabled)?
GilJ's BRs
1 Track display problem (MMB) - confirmed
2 Lock to Loop and Undo - confirmed
