Cubase. FL Studio sometime, but cubase mostly :)

Post

Went from Logic 5 (confused and dazed), to Cubase SX (buggy and always needing a decent bug fix rather than more feature dumping), to Tracktion 2 (great interface but midi sucks) and ended up on Reaper. I like the way Reaper is going, it is lean and mean and reliable for me. The developers are doing a stellar job and since moving have pumped out 3 tracks that I wouldn't have been able to do in Tracktion due to said midi issues like VST note hangs and the likes.

The other thing is of all the hosts I have tried, Reaper has the smallest footprint and taxes the CPU the least. I'm very happy with what can be done on it and am looking forward to further development.
Leave ones footprint in that of the mind not the physical world. We have screwed it over enough.

I wonder what the nuendo/cubase ratio actually is

Legit? Probably one to several hundred, I would imagine.

Pro Tools LE 7&MBox, lovin' it. I bought about a year ago, my first tough to recording&mixing. And now local radiostation plays my first EP everyday. Yihaa!!

I'm a Pro Tools guy. Although I did just order Cubase SE3 to try something different.

Do you all think the Cubase ratio is so high do to the availability of pirated versions?

This is a little off topic, but since there are so many Cubase users, is there a way to just click anywhere on a track and have it play from there, like in Pro Tools or Audition, rather than having to click up top on the ruler to set the play start point. This so far is my biggest complaint with Cubase. It's really a pain in the ass to have to click on that ruler. Makes editing a real bitch. Other than that, I really like Cubase.

Well, first off, this is hardly an attempt at an unbiased survey: KVR may just have a larger number of Cubase users for whatever reasons.

That said, I'm actually more surprised at the relatively high percentage for Sonar. First, Cubase and Nuendo are combined so the actual Cubase users may be closer to 20% (completely arbitrary, admittedly). The greater amount of Cubase users IMO is due to the fact that it is one of the few hosts that work on both platforms. Logic no longer does and Cakewalk never has. That said, years ago when the Mac ruled we would never have expected Cakewalk to become as popular as it has (probably due to the increasing popularity of inexpensive PC DAWs in home studios).

Popularity is still not that important a factor IMO unless you are going to be working in several settings and wish to be compatible with others.

i just spent an hour with the demo. I don't get the rave. It's so basic!
are you joking Theo, or are you blind? :?

You're coming off like an arrogant twat who hasn't got a real clue here Theo. ;-)

My guess is that I use much more audio than you and eXT is the only sequencer I currenly use - hence it can't be that basic. ;-)
