FL: Stuck Midi notes

Ok, i tried figuring this out and it's driving me up the wall, for some reason, regardless of what instrument i use (FL or VST), i get stuck notes when switching between patterns.
SO if i play a pattern with a synth line and switch to another pattern with only sampled beats, there will be stuck notes from the previous pattern.
Anyone know how to remedy this?

no, ditch the step sequencer and use the piano roll, I think you may find it solves your first question to...I wish they would just dump the step sequencer. Far too many people get trapped by it's simplicity and never realize the hindrance it causesS.HUSH wrote:While I am here, is it possible to have multiple step sequencers open?

Thanks for the tip Hinks.
TBH, I feel FLs piano roll needs improvement.
Maybe i've been spoiled by Energy XT's piano editor but FL needs some workflow improvements in that regards.
I really like recording in realtime into the step sequencer and just copying patterns with the pattern editor building up my song that way. That's a cool workflow. The fact that the step sequencer can be a drum sampler is nice too. I just wish i can load multiples

I have eXT as well, I'm just wondering what improvements you would like to see? I think the PR in eXT is a rare weak point in the workflow imho. FL on the other hand has the great tools in the tools menu, it has multi midi channel in one piano roll, it has an easy on the eye 3d'ish look...I think FL has a great PR...TBH, I feel FLs piano roll needs improvement.

Well, for example, in order to select multiple notes, i have to utilize the "box" tool. Now, logically, i would think i could move the selected notes but instead, i have to select the pencil tool first and THEN i can move said notes. Not a biggie but it's a small workflow hindrance.
Then for some reason, if i record into the pattern with the piano roll in view, i don't see the notes inserted. That and i can't hear what was previously recorded.
That's probably something on my end. I have to go to the step sequencer and send what was recorded to the piano roll before i can view it and unless i am missing something....that's just dumb-lol!
In EXT, for me, the flow is perfect in terms of utilizing the PC keyboard for insering/deleting/shifting/ adjusting velocity of notes. I have yet to figure the key shortcuts in FL but i bet it doesn't have the same workflow.

what???? FL PR is awesome. Maybe it's just a difference of habits.. What is better about eXT's PR in your opinion?S.HUSH wrote:Thanks for the tip Hinks.

on the first point "P" is the shortcut for the pencil tool "E" is the select tool, that speeds things up for me. On the second point it doesn't matter too me because I'm not looking at the monitor when I play my keyboards, or when I play my guitar for that matter....thanks though, I was just curious. Don't get me wrong, I love eXT. But I have Sonar 5 too and I don't like it's piano roll, but I'm sure a lot of that has to do with my comfort level with FL...

Here's another little nuisance. I just enabled the metronome and i have my step sequencer set to 16 bars. The pre count is the full 16 bars. SO i right click on the metronome and i don't see any option to custom set the pre count. Logically, i would figure the pre count setting should be where the metronome is.
So now i have to hunt down the pre count settings as i don't see it in the general settings under preferences either.
AAAARRGH!!!! It's stupid little things like this that urk me-lol. It's so common with these DAW apps, what is supposed to be simple and logical ends up being needlessly involved.
Maybe i need to take a break.

You probably checked Record to Step Sequencer Option before inS.HUSH wrote: Then for some reason, if i record into the pattern with the piano roll in view, i don't see the notes inserted. That and i can't hear what was previously recorded.
MIDI Settings -> Keyboard input. If so , then turn it off

to select notes , hold 'ctrl' & left mouse , then drag the box over the notes you want to highlight ...
move as desired ...

ACtually, what i meant was even after the recording is done, i don't see the notes. I don't think anyone looks at their screen while they are playing...or do theyOn the second point it doesn't matter too me because I'm not looking at the monitor when I play my keyboards,
