on the same track?

hmmm?

Post

i'm a little irritated.. why crossfading on one track?
afaik there's some kind of automatic crossfade between events already to avoid clicks.. if you need it to do something different you perhaps could use the a-d-r and vol envelopes to accomplish it.

btw. some time ago i requested the option (additional button) to negate the CC on the midi mapping, this could be used to crossfade between 2 or more tracks. the same CC had to be mapped to different tracks, one normal, one negated, then one turn of a knob would crossfade between the tracks.

i don't get it, wh are you irritated?
it's not because i want crossfading on one track right?

another question, , how extensive is LiveSlices drag 'n' drop capability, can i drag and drop audio slices to and from ableton Live?

No. Dragging from is on the list for v1.5 (I just requested it last week). Don't know if dragging to would be part of that addition. I'd welcome it, although dragging into Liveslice would be more useful for me.

Post

thanks shamann, what about that workaround of dragging to and from a desktop folder, is that possible?

Not yet, but as far as I know that is the same functionality, since all drag and drop requires is the proper wave header info to be exported with the slice.

Post

ok then what if I navigated to where LiveSlice keeps its slices through the ableton browser, would i be able to drag and drop from there,.. how are you doing it?

Post

oh yeah, and i imagine you can name the slices in LiveSlice, do they retain their names
outside of the app on the harddrive?

Post

There is no naming of slices in Liveslice. Given that you can slice an audio file up to 256 times, that would be a nightmare to manage. There is this handy new locate slice feature though, to help you find the origin of a slice you have in a track.

And I'm pretty sure Liveslice holds its slice data in RAM and not deposited on a drive, so there isn't a wave folder to navigate to. Liveslice really isn't aimed (to date) at being a ReCycle replacement in its slicing duties, more aimed at turning a slicer into a sampling instrument for live use. Perhaps as it grows it'll serve both purposes, but not yet.

I don't actually use Live very often (only have the lite version, and when I use it, it is mostly to make use of Live's effects), and so never have had to worry about getting Liveslice's data into Live. Personally I prefer Liveslice's interface for sequencing sliced audio, so wouldn't have much need to drag into Live (or Audiomulch, which is what I mostly use as a host).

I see, i'm looking for an easy way to drag stuff into Live after I slice it, maybe Lives freeze function is the way to go ie: freeze and then drag from the freeze folder into the project

Post

actually I do have plans for adding more "mainstream" slicer features to widen the audience a bit :-) That would include naming slices, exporting them to file or via drag'n'drop and more.

that would be great, exporting them to file all at once or just the ones you select would be really great!!, how soon would something like this be available?

Post

It's possible that Jacob will add it some time in the future, but if you just want drag and drop slicing, that's really all IL's Edison does.

Post

no that's not all, i'm very interested in LiveSlices other abilities but drag n drop is definitely something i'd like, but then again to tell you the truth this slice exort feature he's talking about i'd like too, ..the main thing i'm trying to get out of all of this is something that slices/maps auto & manual/mangles/sequences/ and with well thought out organization, i'm unbelievable happy with Live as a host so for the most part something that works well with-in Live too, it's looking like LiveSlice, Guru one day, and Live are going to be my main thang with ext on the side if i can get my head around it... anyway back to LiveSlice
