A bug...
Several times when I've had more than 1 track and been editing the 2nd or 3rd track, and then doing some stuff in the slicer like previewing or moving slices the slices have been inserted to the 1st track. Don't know exactly how. They were just suddenly inserted into the tracks.

hmm.. was "lock to loop" active in track 1?Soarer wrote:A bug...Several times when I've had more than 1 track and been editing the 2nd or 3rd track, and then doing some stuff in the slicer like previewing or moving slices the slices have been inserted to the 1st track. Hi Jacob, ohm wrote:That should definately not happen - what are your system specs? I never see CPU spikes on my system, even when playing lots of tracks / arrangements at once. There could be some problems with win98 and old graphics cards though.spuddle wrote:Welcome to 'Team Liveslice!'
2x tracks of 128 events managed to kill my system
Better go a little easier on it!
Do you mind describing in more datail what you were doing and what happened?
It was a little odd really. I am recreating what I did and it is slowing up quickly again.
Essentially I have a 1 bar loop of 4 beats. This is split into 16 slices. I assign 32 beats to an arranger and then lock the loop to a track which repeats the loop 8 times (128 events).
Next a load a single hit sample but reduce the number of slices to 1 and assign that to another track. That one gave me 64 events. At this point the graphics seem to slow down slightly, a bit of a delay in clicking stuff. I glance at the CPU monitor and it shows no CPU hit at all.
Then adding a third track the slow down becomes more apparent. Add a sample to this track and anything more than say 32 events the playback starts stuttering as if trying to keep up. Clicks and movements take up to 5 seconds to register and it's all a bit unuseable
Strangely enough, CPU monitor shows zero hit still..
My PC is an AMD 2.2Ghz Athlon, 2GB DDR RAM, Geforce 6800GT 256MB Graphics Card and I'm running EnergyXT on Win XP with SP2.
Any other details you need?

ok, but when you insert new slices to a loop you also used in track one you will always get movement in your track as you change the offsets and number of slices in that loop.Soarer wrote:NopeR.A.W. wrote: hmm.. was "lock to loop" active in track 1?
it shouldn't insert events though and of course nothing should happen on preview. can you reproduce that behaviour and perhaps make some screenshots to clarify?

I have an important question/FR
When I want to save my complete creation in LS I have to save it as a bank .fxb file and only then LS saves its parameters and audio data so that everything will be recalled exactly as I made it. The problem is that the fxb files take up a lot of space. I already have some fxb files on 6,19 and 28 mb. I use all kinds of audio material and not only short loops. Of course I do avoid loading huge wav files.
Would it not be possible for LS to only save the audio file(wav) paths in the fxb?
I know that NI Battery 2 and other NI products works in this way.
I really hope to see this feature in the near future. Is it hard to implement? I know that Battery places a .nov file along with every audio file that it uses, so that it can find the samples I assume

Have a look at the settings page, there is a checkbox called "Save audio data in songs and banks".

Here's a few odd actions, which might be BRs.
[LiveSlice v1.4, host energyXT]
BR 01? Last event jumps around
- In the Arranger, if you click in an empty area, the last event in the track jumps to that position (or it snaps to a position, if snapping is enabled)
- sometimes this happened with the first Event rather than the last
- I was clicking in an empty area to deselect an event
BR 02? moving Event by LMB
In the Arrange, with Snap on, if you LMB within an event, it Snaps to that position.
- I think this is a reasonable action.
- but with Snap off, if you LMB within an event, it moves a little to the left, not to the current mouse position, which is what I expected), this is a BR, imo
BR 03 locating slices
I turned on [locate slice]
Then clicked an event
- the slice was briefly highlighted in the Slicer, then it was inserted as another event.
- two BRs here: the Slice highlighting goes away, and an unintended event is inserted
- when I tried it again, the slice remained highlighted and no extra event was inserted.
FR 01 Slice highlighting
When a slice is selected in the Slicer it has a blue border
Can the slice be shaded blue as well (in the same way as events are shaded blue when you select them)
Previously-reported BRs:
RAW - MIDI values were always 0 - fixed
RAW BRs -3 and 5 are still present
RAW BRs -4 and 6 are fixed
GilS' track display problem - is fixed.
GilS' Lock to loop + Undo - is fixed (but [Lock to loop] remains selected
PS I'll update the LiveSlice Commands Guide to v1.4 soonish

confirmed..DarkStar wrote:BR 01? Last event jumps around
it only happened when the slice was inserted by the bug 2 you reported. when i lock to loop, then remove some events at the end in order to get an empty area, it doesn't do that.
btw you can deselect by clicking the highlighted event again.

confirmed (when there's an empty area in the track)DarkStar wrote:BR 03 locating slices
+1DarkStar wrote:FR 01 Slice highlighting
can't confirm that.DarkStar wrote:RAW BRs -3 and 5 are still present
my BR 3 (locate + drag from slicer prob) does work here now, as soon as i LMB a slice, locate gets deactivated.
my BR 5 (parameter values don't work when locate is active) does work, you just have to LMB again, the first LMB deactivates locate and the fader doesn't move, so when you hold in that stage you got the prob. but as soon as you LMB the parameter again, the fader moves.
tested v1.4 final in eXT as well

I know. That's not my question. I already have the "Save audio data in songs and banks" box checked otherwise SL will not save and load the loops used.nitex wrote:Have a look at the settings page, there is a checkbox called "Save audio data in songs and banks".

i think he meant it the other way roundSoarer wrote:I know. That's not my question. when you deselect that it does what you want, it doesn't save the audio data then which lowers the space used for fxb's and song files. LS still finds the samples by pathes, but when you move them you have to browse for them when they are not in the default folders you can choose on the settings page.

Using 1.4 in Audiomulch, anytime I try to load a wavefile in Mulch's loop player contraption when Liveslice is open, Mulch crashes with an EZeroDivide error.
I've also found that with this new version, graphic performance seems to slow down once you have 3 or 4 samples (of any length) loaded in memory (I have 2 GB of RAM and 3GHz CPU, so usually not an issue). Slice markers move slowly and any control change is slow to update.
Not a bug report, but a question:
How does the copy/paste function work? I'm able to copy events and paste them in the same position in another track in the same arrangement slot, but that's it. I assumed pasting would be anywhere within a track as well, and in any track in other arrangement slots.

I'm also assuming that I'm one of the few users around using Mulch, so if you'd be interested in adding me back to the beta-testing list, I'd be more than happy to do it. I actually somehow missed re-signing on after the initial round by accident.
Cheers,
Steve
