They have the Producer edition for a very reasonable £93 - it's not the money though - I need something easy to use as I'm a complete noob!

Incidentally the "MIDI Out" plugin does exactly what I wanted - either automate the patch setting or select "Edit Events" on the patch (using an LFO on the patch produces interesting results)

This is great fun - I can see I'm not going to get much sleep tonight...

fwiw anything that can be automated can be identified by hovering the cursor over the feature you want to autommate, if a little red circle appears in the right side of the information bar in the tool bar, it can be automated...:)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Best price I've seen in Europe is from

http://www.thomann.de/thoiw2_artikel-186981.html

275 euros / £190 for the XXL version.

I really like the mixer section & piano roll in FL. Not too bothered about the internal generators as I have other VSTs.

I'm very tempted to just dive in! However, being new to this I want to try a few things out first.
I would go for the download version.

Thanks - that is definitely cheaper.

Do you actually get anything useful in the boxed version? Manuals, samples on CD or anything?

By the way I found a useful tutorial on "freezing" a track at

...(looks like an older version of FL than v6) one thing I like about FL is there's a very active community on the net with tips like this

What I like about FL is the sound... It just sounds soooo good. My main DAW is Live but I love the sound of FL so much that I'm spending time learning it, instead of just creating everything in Live.
FL gets allot deeper too, check out the formula plugin. Whoohaa, that thing freeks me out.

You mean the effects of FL sounds better than the effects of Live for you? or because FL uses another dithering algorithm? (I really don't know FL or Live apart from few hours with the demos, so that I'm asking).

Peace
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Bitwig 5, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I think it's the difference in algorithm. Not sure.. My ears just really like it.
