Just to let you know,
I tried to update the list again. Some of the links I received didn't work, and some I cannot figure out where to slot, so I didn't post them. Sorry for the delay, but I had some other priorities to get through...
Also, I would like to ask again: before you suggest something, please check the list (a simple Ctrl+f should do it) as to whether it appears already - and if it is possible, please post a link as well as the suggested category. I know little to nothing about some 90% of these effects, and I don't want to make an even bigger idiot out of myself by posting, say, a de-esser under 'Visual Aids"...
Thank you for everybody's contribution!

A short note:
It turns out that most of the links I posted didn't work because this f*cking phpBB software recognizes closing brackets as such only when you post the original message, but upon subsequent edits it automatically adds the brackets to the bloody URL...
Anyway, sorry - it's been all corrected now!

Dingo, where is your list? This topic is getting so long I have trouble finding the URL. Can you post the URL again?

There's no URL: the links are collected in the very FIRST message of this thread.

Hi Dingo,
Please consider my Samplexer VST for inclusion in your list of Freeware VST Effects. I'm not sure what category to suggest. I wouldn't call it a delay, or a mangler, or an arpeggiator, although it can be used in these ways. What it does is to record snippets/patterns/phrases on the fly, and then trigger them in response to new NoteOns, transposed relative to the new notes. Sample playback can be reversed, looped and trimmed nondestructively. All controls can be assigned to MIDI CC#s with Learn function.

Thanks,
Dave Haupt
