Nobody has posted a whole song done with AT2 so I figured I'd be the first one. 8)
I wrote this song yesterday and did the whole recording (drums, bass, guitar and vocals) and mixing in a couple of hours. It's pretty much all in one or two takes and I can't play or sing to save my life so don't expect anything good.

This recording is meant to be just a worktape and I'll have someone redo the guitars and sing for me and I'll also add some keyboards, but I wanted to share what I had anyway.
The guitar tone is something I quickly did from scratch and, just for fun, I tried one of the AT2 compressor on the vocals.

Here it goes!

NOTHIN' LIKE THE REAL THING
©2006 Juan Albarran

Synthesizers, samples and drum machines
Are all over MTV and VH1
Wish they played more music with a bunch of real guys
Playin' real guitars and real drums ('cuz)

CHORUS
There's nothin', nothin' like the real thing
No, nothin', nothin' like the real thing

Liposuction, silicon and lip implants
Seem to be what women need to look great
Well, I ain't crazy 'bout them Baywatch dolls
I'll take natural curves any day ('cuz)

CHORUS
There's nothin', nothin' like the real thing
No, nothin', nothin' like the real thing

Coffee with caffeine
American pickups trucks
John Wayne and James Dean
Makin' love when you are in love
I'm tellin' ya...

CHORUS
There's nothin', nothin' like the real thing
No, nothin', nothin' like the real thing
There's nothin', nothin' like the real thing
No, nothin', nothin' like the real thing

Ok, so I dared to post such a crappy recording, I hope people start sharing more samples of music done with AT2.

The drums really stand out. What are you using for them?

So many plugins, so little time...

Great, the only thing I can't take credit for! lol! They are Drums On Demand, volume 1, I think... a "song" called Piccolo Rock. There's a LOT of editing though, it took me a while to get them right

Not crappy at all. Good effort.

Suggestions (and that's all they are cause what do I know) maybe double or triple up the vocal to give it some depth. Bring the guitar up a little (if you are going to add keyboards maybe not..you'll have to see in the mix) Maybe a little AT2 screaming guitar lead break.

I liked the writing and the sentiment of the song. Thanks for sharing.

Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r

Ey Dan! Thanks for the feedback. This recording isn't anything that I'll mix or anything, it's just a work tape. I guess the lyrics and melody will go through some re-writing and I'll just re-do the vocals when I'm done. Then, I'll have somebody play and sing for real and it'll be time to spend time mixing and all... And yes, I plan and having maybe two guitar parts and maybe some hammond. I'll finish it and then post the "before" and "after" lol!

Post

I look forward to hearing it.

Thanks,

Dan

I DO like it! The Guitar-Sounds really FIT!
Actually, with a bit more fx/editing, large parts of the vox are ...well...REAL THING!

Post

There is no editing or fx that can save those vocals! lol! But thanks, I appreciate the comments. I am finishing a song, again with AT2, but this time played and sung by pro's. I'll post it when it's done and then I'll start working on this again....

Hey TeleJuan

The guitars sound great.
I wish I had more time to actually finish songs.
But I have something.
This is a song by "Clueless" I found in the music cafe.
I like this song so I added some guitar on top of it:

Eh, thread title kind of sends off the wrong message I think. On the surface it reads like "AT2 is crappy for recording in general". Any chance you can change it? It is a general SR forum rule that we don't promote potential damage, even in the smallest ways, to companies SR works with. Thanks. What about calling the thread "My recording with AmpliTube 2"? That is what you're talking about.

Music sounds good too!

Nice song and nice guitar work on top. I like going to the bridge pickup half way through. A little bit like Terry Kath on 25 or 6 to 4.
I don't usually listen to songs all the way through but I did for this one. It's kind of nice to hear a "little" studio noise every once in a while 8) .

Yeah Squids, I was thrown off a little by the thread title, but it got my attention! :hihi: . You know what they say about publicity!

Post

wow, I'm sorry for the subject, I changed it already... I never thought somebody would take it like that.

Anyway, the point of the post is actually that AT2 sounds so awesome that it'll make sound good pretty much anything, including me and my crappy playing...

Beardedone, nice job!

I posted this one in the SR Demo thread yesterday but since it uses AT2 here it is also.

One for the Sawgrass

Dan

P.S. If you should listen to it let me know if the D/L / streaming is slow.
