Good thing you at least quoted the Razz smiley. You should realise that this was a joke to the people that had commented that it's obvious that everybody has very varied opinions about what is important in the music. It has nothing to do with the limiters.

Do I have to somehow proove to you that I'm not biased against or even for any of the limiters? Is it so hard to believe that I actually LIKE your limiter? I also like the iZotope Ozone limiter and the Voxengo Elephant.

See, Torben, your problem is that you only see what you want to see. You are grasping at every single little sentence that you could turn into some kind of "aha! bManic & co are biased! hahaha!! I knew it!" (insert mad scientist laughter here).

I'll give you my advice once more: Try to learn to read what others write without distorting the meaning for your own "defense (???)".

I'm still very confused by your behaviour. :help:

It's sad to see you like this.. sad indeed. :(

Have you dedicated your life to insult me or what? OK you can not owe me this victory, I can sence that. I know your test is not complete but what the heck; isn't it OK to raise your hands after you win a game? You are a very small man bmanic.

Insult you? You seem to take everything extremely personally. Lighten up man!!!

Btw. The PMS joke is actually quite valid. I know my wife is having em when she is purposefully looking for trouble everywhere. :hihi:

You're forgetting two things already basking in the glory, although bmanic has been trying to point it out in almost every post of his already.

1. It's bmanics limiting settings - his preferences.
2. The choice of those parameters would be different on any other music.

One can easily demonstrate why this test would have completely different results if someone else had chosen the parameters on a different style of music/mix.

Just because there would/could be a different result on a different test, doesn't mean that this one is not itself a sort of victory.

I'm the small man? Now could you please explain to me where I've said that this limiter shootout was a game where somebody could win something? Where did I say this? Did you actually read at all what I wrote in the first post? Is this all really about you having some perverse need for me to praise you and your genious limiter? Is there? If so, why didn't you simply ask?

Torben: Your limiter is good, very good (which I've said ever since the demo was released). It's among the best I've ever tried. Oh.. and yes, you won the game! wow! congratulations! I so totally would like to be you and I'm so envious! :hail: :hail: :hail:

There.. are you satisfied now?

Ok.....first.......a disclaimer: I am in no way taking sides.

Now, to be quite frank Torben, bmanic really didn't have to include your product in this shootout. He could've just as easily opted for UAD-1's Precision Limiter or such.

My point, I highly doubt he's trying to belittle the results of the test.....especially when he's the conductor. What would be the point?

Please don't take offense. Whatever comments he may or may not have made concerning the test conducted on your site, is a product of just how thorough he is when accounting for the numerous variables that come into play in such initiatives. We, after all, deal with music (its tonality, its shapings within the context of a mix). You deal with coding......meaning your test approach may not necessarily be ours.

Again, please don't take offense. It really isn't that serious.

I respect you and Aleksey both and would hate to see sides of you (both) that taint that regard.

Keep cranking the wonderful plugs!

hey bmanic, kudos for this fun test, too bad about the absurd turn the thread took, I guess limiter threads are cursed as of late... even an anti-controversal one like this.

I think sounddesigners, like artists, should hide modestly behind their work :D

Forum gossips must impact on plugin sales a lot for you guys to be so anal about it. You are aware that the vast majority of the people here wouldn't know how to use a limiter properly even if their lives depended on it, aren't you?

Post

Hi!

For me, this test doesn't mean anything. I constantly vary the limiters based on each song; they aren't either including in the test the main ones... nor those that I use.

... and they aren't my settings!!! :tantrum:

The only real conclusion for me is that TLS Pocket Limiter is a fantastic option compared with the rest, specially considering its price.

Just let me put my settings... :hihi:

Greetings,

Post

bmanic,
Thanks for this! A very interesting test and thread!

I didn't think there was a big difference between some of the clips, but I did vote for B overall.

Great track by the way :)

Aleksey Vaneev wrote:I'm very satisfied. In the light of this test, there is a place for enhancement in Elephant's design, but this test meant that Elephant is still pretty competitive. So, it is not lost at all. Thanks for those who voted for C. :)
For me Elephant is the clear winner of this test if there were any. On this sample material it wasn't really that difficult to decide what example sounded best.

Another "winner" of this test is Pocket Limiter, congratulations Daniel! And thanks :D

Btw, Kjaerhus Audio should consider hiring someone capable to handle public relations.

I prefer BuzMaxi 2 (not 3) to all of those tested here, and Finis for soft limiting, plus I like GPP-1 more than MPL-1, so that should say something about whether things are "decided" one way or the other by this poll.

I didn't even bother voting, but, with the exception of Ozone, I'm familiar with the sound and performance of these limiters. I love PL, but only for certain things, like squashing synth lead tracks. In my opinion, Refined Audiometrics CLAS--->BuzMaxi 2 with the gain at about +6, tansparent setting, is the closest I've heard in VST to good hardware comp/limiting for the master bus.

But I'm partial to analog "warmth", so assault me if you must for not particuarly craving digital "transparency". In my own, very subjective langauge, I would call both Elephant and MPL-1 too "digital" to be the last thing my audio stream sees before output.

$.02 in the bank. :D

Thanks for the CLAS tip, I wouldn't have thought of putting that before limiter, got to try!
