Track produced during the construction and testing of a Reaktor ensemble. Several other layers of non-Reaktor processing involved as well. Reminiscent of my flense project, but not strcitly speaking part of that output.
Named after the model of Russian gas mask Ive just acquired.
5Mb, 8m long (MP3Pro codec)
GP-5
EDIT:
The original version of this was encoded with the MP3Pro codec, which is more efficent, but seemed to be backwards-compatible with ordinary MP3 players. However on checking its somewhat unclear as to whether there isnt some loss of quality after all. Hence, here's an alternate 'classic' MP3 format version.

Sorry about that, it's what all the kids are saying these days, looked like fun.
Excellent track, just floats by happily in a piano as werewolf kind of way.

wonderful piece, sean. very well done. creepy and minimal - two of the things I want to hear in music at the moment. the third is wishful thinking cos I don't think hearing a winning lottery ticket is quite as good as having a winning lottery ticket.

Naming this after a gas mask is really appropriate... sounds like a thick, toxic fog windblown over miles of rusty chain-link fencing. Just about perfect.

Exactly the landscape I had in my head while developing it. Thanks.dystonia_ek wrote:Naming this after a gas mask is really appropriate... sounds like a thick, toxic fog windblown over miles of rusty chain-link fencing. Just about perfect.

w00t this is happy music isn't it
delicate and introspective, it feels very lonely and bleak. it brings images of being left behind somewhere far way from others.
have a kitten, now go and write me a melody
great work sean

Excellent, love it!
I'd say this would definitely fall under the category of "Bleakscape".

Yup. Odd thing, I was looking for voice changers, and accidently dicovered that there's quite a lot of them turn up on ebay, and I sorta though "that's exactly what I want to decorate my studio with". So I sorta decided to start collecting them. Waiting on the second one.they would make great stage prop masks, cept for the sweating hehe.

Nope, no Doepfer. There's only one sound source, a single pass with the guitar. I then took that, and bounced it down thru a couple of effects and used that as the second track; then processed that with the Reaktor ensemble, and bounced that down to a third track with some reverbs on it. Finally I bounced that track again, with yet another set of effects, giving me four tracks altogether.
I did these three sequential bounce-downs several times over, each time tweaking the construction and settings for the Reaktor ensemble, (but not the other effects) until I was happy, then layered all four of the final versions of the tracks. Then that was it. The work was in getting the ensemble to work, and tweak it settings to effect on the subsequent bounces.
The ensemble is a really crude brute-force resynthesis/vocoder type thingy. Its grossly CPU heavy, and it still needs work, but Im happy with the track

Im afraid I dont really do happy music. There's already enough of it that I like that I'd rather just listen to when Im in a good mood.blaster78 wrote:w00t this is happy music isn't it
Not that Im actually that depressed when I do stuff like this. If I was I'd be sulking under the duvet instead of making stuff.
