Amplitube 2 vs Ampeg SVX for bass?

I record mostly bass, but occasionaly also guitar.

Is the bass amp sim in Amplitube 2 good enough or should I go with something like Ampeg SVX ?
I really like Ampeg (I also have a real one), but it seems a bit overkill to me.

You can get both bundled together on www.esoundz.com for a good deal. Otherwise, I think if you record mostly bass then Ampeg is the one. However, the bass amp in AT2 is pretty good so... I personally think to have both in your set up is not overkill at all. It's like a guitar and bass toolbox and you can try all kinds of things you normally wouldn't otherwise. Depends on budget though. Good news is, either way you go you can get the "crossgrade" discount to the other later on (assuming that is still being offered like it is now).

The bass amp on AT2 sounds awesome, just like the others, but if you're a bass player, it'll probably won't be enough. If you can afford it, I would go for the bundle, though, AT2 is too good to miss

I have been using the Bass presets in AT2 and creating my own presets with a Lakland Skyline 5 String. AT2 gets some very impressive sounds. If it had a 31 band graphic rack eq, that would be a added bonus for us bass players.

I just tried the Amplitube 2 demo today, and it smokes. Far better than the competition...oh man...

That's a good question, I was wondering that too. Also: you can get any of the new IK products for half price if you own even a free LE program and if you just merely sign up with eSoundz...now I know why everybody's so super-friendly with Squids.

Does that count for any program or does it have to be Amplitube LE ?

I have Sonik Synth 1, one of the first VST synths I bought. Unfortunately, I didn't know eSoundz back then and I got it from IK. So I think that doesn't count.

But I also have some Sonic Capsules (I think it's called like that?) from eSoundz that came with Sampletank LE. Maybe that counts?
