He could get decent sounds out of sampletank/soniksynth free.jones-y wrote:you will defnt need more than one. You can start off with
Plugsound Free
Triangle
Synth1
Asynth
Superwave P8
acquit hitxx
apari kodachi
and a few others
But you will want some keyboard type sounds, and that's where you're gonna hafta spend some dough.
Ravity
Hypersonic
Sampletank/Sonik Synth
and a few others
And you'll also want a sampler and some good sample sets. I'm pretty sure whatever host software you're using has a built in sampler, or you could buy one of the many that are available.
There is an extensive database here at KVR. The biggest lesson of all is that you're going to have to get in there, get your hands dirty and decide what you like. Which can be difficult, because some stuff doesn't have demo versions. But that's where reviews come in handy. There are reviews in magazines, here in KVRs database, and online.
You gotta do the footwork. Nobody can do it for you.

A cranky old fart who obviously hasn't had his juice box and hates hip-hop/rap.who is bones??
For simple sequencing of samples I like xoxos Steps and if you are interested in eletronic drum sounds you sould also check out DrumSynth and/or Stomper for cooking your own samples.
p.s. There are a lot of KVRites who don't seem to like hip-hop/rap so I suggest a tough skin and a sense of humor.
