Can cubase SX3 import all movie formats? .AVI .MOV .MPG?
or does it have to be special video settings?

since it uses quicktime to play the video files, I suppose it can open any file quicktime can play. for divx avi files you should download the divx codec for mac osx. I work only with mov files (photo jpeg codec) as it uses far less cpu than the other formats.
