does anyone know of a free or cheaper-than-auto-tune audio unit? im going for the cher effect if theres anything else.

Yep. I was doubtful when I first started using it, but it works -- my voice is in tune after I apply it.
...There was once a thing called OBtune, also. From a review I read, it was apparently the actual code for AutoTune 1 or 2, without the manual tune part. Cost under $100, I think. Too lazy to look hard for it now, but Google comes up with a site named www.musicyo.com, and it looks like they at one time sold it. Can't seem to find it on their front page, though. It was DX only, like Autotune used to be.
