Wouldn't putting a low pass filter prior to the midi plugin give you
what you need?
Also, why an envelope follower? Compared to a horn or voice a kick
drum has a fairly unvarying envelope. I use an envelope-to-CC for
expressive control curves. There are several kick-oriented audio-to-midi
plugs out there but offhand I can't think of what they are. I'll come back
if I remember and post em.

That's quite a cool little plugin, will have to have a go at seeing if I can do anything with this in live.

I don't understand how, if that were possible in Cubase, it would help as this midi plugin (I presume you are talkking about the Soma Envelope) loads as a VSTi in Cubase, rendering it useless as it is impossible to route audio through it.runagate wrote:Wouldn't putting a low pass filter prior to the midi plugin give you

The kick was an example, but more generally I want to be able to extract envelopes from audio to control other plugins with in Cubase in real time.

It's not real time in SX (it's a two pass process), but our Digital Peak Meter and Digital Peak Meter Pro produce an automation envelope that you can reuse for any other track. You can then do any sort of Side chaining with any effect. A new version of the Pro version is about to be released and it will let you control more parameters, and use the RMS envelope of the signal too.
