It's obviously a fake, for crying out loud. And it's NOT that impressive or elaborate. All it would've taken is a bored guy who knows this kind of software, and a half hour.

A very bored guy. Makes you wonder.

It rings true to me. Whoever did it was obviously pretty good, because it contains a bunch of "who the hell cares?" features in addition to the "about bloody time" features, as well as a few "that'd be neat" features.

The ones I like best are:

1. VST 3.0 spec: DSP, "draft" modes for CPU saving, true side-chaining, etc.
2. Flexible Routing: draggable inserts! Finally!
3. VST-M (VST mixer) plugins: Finally a better built-in EQ!

The rest of the features range from "okay" to "useless". Sounds like Steinberg to me! SX4 had better be good, even if this is totally bogus (likely). People expect a lot these days ...

I think it's bogus. "Audio parts can now also be edited as a MIDI part". Huh? :nutter:

Proof that all things are relative. One person's "pretty good" and "pretty elaborate" are another person's (ie. me) "pretty fake" and "not really that involved."

Maybe not that crazy if you think of an app like melodyne. It's the type of thing I'd like to see implemented in Ableton Live. As far as cubase is concerned, i took out the dongle a while ago to make way for something more useful :hihi: . Hopefully v4 will bring something to make it worth plugging back in again.

We just came back from a meeting and found this thread on the forum. We had to remove it ofcourse so we don't have incorrect information on our forum.

1. This is no Steinberg paper that we use for our mailings by Email, FAX etc.

2. Much fun with this fake message. and speculating

The fact that they list "over 40 bug fixes" as one of the main new features is the best argument for this being a fake IMHO.

But...the fact that they took this down in less then 10 minutes on cubase.net is the best argument for this being real.

who knows? Only time will tell. The "universal part editor" idea IS the future though. Its basically the Melodyne engine built right into a DAW and will be a standard feature soon (look at DP, liquid instruments etc).
Not bad meaning bad but bad meaning good

I'm still waiting for VST 4.0 sdk which will allow for instant brain to midi control. oh and a new brain-iloq key.. must spend an extra 50 bucks to get your brain to work with the midi control.. watch out for blue screens of death though. :o

Yes, but once you register your brain, you take it anywhere with you.

Honestly, that's a pretty bold statement. I think creating something like this would be an interesting graphics design/writing/marketing exercise, maybe there's somebody that would like to put their money where their mouth is and whip up a Logic Pro 8 spec sheet...not that I think you will, but it would be pretty neat if somebody did. Especially if it would only take a half hour, what's to lose?

Transfers are a pain though...
