Hi

Am having problems getting the LFO tool to work in Piano Roll, so that I can draw an LFO over an instrument. When I try to select it from the tools menu, it is grayed out. Any ideas?

what parameter do you want to draw

I am trying to have an LFO effect over the top of a sample. So prob freq I think. I basically have got say an audio clip or a sampler with a sample loaded. I want to effect it, but in time with the master tempo. What are the options for parameters that I can effect then?

It appears that you can use the lfo on the three channel settings in the dropdown in the piano roll (next to where you select the instrument) The three are volume, panning, and pitch. I haven't tried much more than looking at it to help you, but that's what I see...I'll mess with it more...:)

I read somewhere that you have to be on a channel that has no instrument or notes in the piano roll, to be able to use the LFO tool. Don't know how correct that is.

I just put one note across a whole bar for my vsampler (bass sample in the vsampler), I set the channel for panning and selected the LFO tool for pan and drew a pattern...I then opened the step sequencer and watched the pan knob for that channel jump about...:)

you can do a bit more than that ... :)

check 'channel settings' ...
basically , any knob you can right click , and get 'edit events' in the drop down menu , can be controlled by the lfo tool ...

of course you can also use the event editor's lfo for last parameter tweaked as well...;)

I think what I am after, is some way to achieve what I would call the LFO type effect, of mangling the sound up but synced with the master tempo at the end of the sample before a transition, say over the last four/eight beats. That is the only way I can explain it really. Anybody know what I'm getting at?

automation clip in the playlist, event editor, or if you really like you can write a dummy track to trigger the peak controller and link that to the parameter you wish to automate, of course you can trigger the peak controller with any track you have. You can also record the automation in realtime, manually tweaking the parameter...;)
