Can anyone help me with a small problem.
I want to take samples from DVDs.
In CM magazine a while back there were instructions on how to use the Windows sound recorder to do this, but the instructions were for Onboard sound, not soundcards: in the Control Panel you have to make sure SOUND RECORDING and SOUND PLAYBACK are both set to AC97 audio, then in the volume you do ADVANCED-OPTIONS-PROPERTIES-RECORDING RADIO, and tick STEREO MIX. Then use the Windows sound recorder.
When I try this same procedure, but with the recording and playback set for my E-Mu 0404, it doesn't work.
Anyone know why? And how to sort it out?

I would think you would be able to do this in Patchmix: you would have to put an input insert in the output strip, or something. You should ask this at the EMU forum, someone there will know.
