i have a bunch of samples from various synths/harmonium/field recordings and i would like to make a soundfont up out of them so i can put them together in crystal.
i have all the wavs, some will loop, some are one shots. how do i go about creating a soundfont ?
cheers,
steve.

* Viena (one n, the Vienna from Creative Labs requires a true SoundBlaster card)
* Awave Studio by fmjsoft worked even better for me.
and there are some others probably...

thanks mate, awave is great. shame the unregistered version will only let you save once and only single instruments.
as nice as it is $140 to make some soundfonts for a free synth is a bit steep...
thanks,
steve.

Maybe you can create instruments with Awave, and do the merge of instruments into bigger soundfonts with Viena?
My MusicCalc is temporary offline.

cool, i'll try that, actually, the single instrument thing isn't as big a problem as i thought, once they are in the crystal soundfont directory they all just show up in the menu.C00kie wrote:Maybe you can create instruments with Awave, and do the merge of instruments into bigger soundfonts with Viena?

An alternative solution would be to use SFZED(free)which is a standalone piece of software that builds sfz files, map your soundfiles and export the program with the corresponding waves as sfz and then use a converter like Extanslator(affordable) to convert the whole to a soundfont. It may sound cumbersome on paper but the entire operation takes a minute or so providing your soundfiles are named according to the corresponding note.
