What do you think would give the best result when using an amp sim live, with real world level (w/bass&drums & vocal):
- with a full range Power Amplification (such as Mackie, ...)?

Well, yeah...
I have some experience with playing through a full range PA setup live (on a Tonelab) and it sounds ok (maybe lacking sometimes a bit oomph), but have never hooked up with just a power amplifier and a real cabinet. I'm wondering if the amp sim/real cab is a good match? Amp sims are so verstaile, it really becomes interesting now...

If you played through a guitar power anp and cabinet, you'd need to turn off cabinet simulation and, if possible, power amp simulation. But, at that point, why bother?

Only "cabinet simulation" needs to be turned off (or tweaked a bit) because he's not going to play through a guitar amp but rather a generic power amp.

You could use a traditional head if it has an FX loop. Just plugin your signal path to the return input, and most amps fx loops are after the preamp stage I pressume, feeding the signal only to the power amp stage. Works real well when using pods/v-amps with the cab sim turned off. Although, it may only work well if you have a master volume, and not just one volume to control pre-gain and total output. Usually only the master volume knob and presence knob(at least on my Soldano Hotrod 50)if available, will effect final sound.

I use an amp simulator live, but it's in a worship/church environment, so I intentionally just use a small powered nearfield monitor on a mic-stand to hear if I accidentally am playing in the wrong key.
For volume, a full-range powered keyboard amp works fabulously with it. I don't really have to worry if cab simulation is turned off with it. It sounds pretty close to what it sounds like out of the headphone output.
Powered Keyboard amps are the secret portable PA system of the underground. You can usually get more power and better full-range speakers with a powered keyboard amp than with one of the cheapo portable PA systems of the same price range.

Very well said, rockstar_not ! I suppose the powered keyboard amp is mono, so my suggestion/experience is to use 2 of them if you want to get a lot more power.
Do the test with 2 10watt amps. Use 1 and then 2; now ask the opinion of your neighbour... .. .
I just love to play on my custom made "Vox AC30" amp (mine goes to 60w, at 11
; 4 tubes 
), through at least 1 4-speaker box.
At home it's wonderful, but taking the "tower" outside is worse than working ! So when I go on tour with my gear (ex. to the local pub), I use 2 little (Aria and Yamaha) 10watt amps (with those 6 inch speakers). Light to carry, but don't come too close when I'm playing ! (Damn, maybe that's why groupies stay away from me... .. .
)
