I'm also voting for anon entries - noone knows me and I'd like to have a fair chance...

designing a plugin is half about dsp & sound.. but also half about usability, designing something understandable, and making the GUI make sense to a user.

removing the GUI element means we're merely competing on dsp designs.

i promise you that i spend more than half of any development time for a plugin, designing, tweaking, and generally refactoring to make the gui better, smarter, and simpler to use.

i wouldn't submit a plugin if i was forced to remove my GUI designs from the submission. popularity aside, the tweakbench visual language has been refined & worked on for years now, and is inseperable from the rest.

However, I've been following this from a distance and it looks like a little bit of help should be forthcoming from me / KVR. I'm happy to promote this at KVR (banners and links when/where necessary), and I can act as escrow for any donations. Donations can be made via PayPal from http://www.kvraudio.com/developer_challenge.php -- this page should also contain full details of the competition - when the details are finalized perhaps tuz could let me have the text (rules, times, etc.).

Regarding an area for beta testing, I'll happily set up a new "Developer Challenge" forum category, which can contain a general chat forum, and various private beta testing forums that each developer can have control over (including giving people access to), if they require one. Tuz can manage the main chat forum.

The entries can all be uploaded and hosted at KVR when the judging is to commence and we can have a proper voting page.

Would this help?

Any other things I could add?

I agree. I wasn't suggesting removing the GUI. I as referring to the fact that some people are already well known and will tend to get more votes than those who are not. So I would suggest that the products will be available for download without information on who has developed them to avoid a biased response.

I agree that a GUI is paramount to the success and usability of a product.

I really am no big fan of anon plugins. I allways release the plugin with a clear ID tag in it. I might however leave a blank spot where the logo will be and release it after the votes are done. How about that? I'm taging up my plugins just in case somebody wants to screw me bad.
