All this suggests EA was really struggling. So...why does it follow that Roger Nichols will be successful at selling FREAKUALIZER for $350??
Elemental Audio been swallowed up...

Elemental just had a kind of "going out of business" sale as well. I was considering buying Equium for like $80 or something. Then they sold the farm.
All this suggests EA was really struggling. So...why does it follow that Roger Nichols will be successful at selling FREAKUALIZER for $350??

Elemental Audio already catered to the Pro-Tools crowd no? They offered RTAS format right?

I seriously hope Polyslax is the only person in the world who has that view. I don't see this berk buying EAS out as validation of anything. So he got Grammies producing big money acts in expensive studios, where he probably didn't actually use any s/w at all, because the studio had racks full of expensive gear and an engineer to program them (in fact the engineer probably did all the audio grunt work).polyslax wrote: "I take this as validation from a major player in the industry that these are great plugs."
A "producer" gives me no confidence in any product at all. If a company like Waves or TC or someone with a bit of proven track record in s/w took them over...then you could infer validation of some kind.
A "producer" with this guy's taste in GUIs and names and rip-offs probably doesn't know software from soft furnishings.
A real shame...all their plugins were on my list...not any more.
Someone mentioned if you already have them, be happy. Good as far as it goes, but when a new OS comes out that they won't work in, then you're stuffed, eh? When a new host update comes out that requires a Firium update to work...then you're stuffed, eh? (unless you use an iLok and pay the extra for his stellar name that validates the plugins
It's dickheads like him that might eventually ruin the s/w industry. Buy out the smaller devs, bump up the prices enough, and I'd go back to using h/w. I consider much s/w pretty cheap - but his doubling in price, takes it close to the realm of h/w if you hunt around for bargains. Take the price of all those plugins together...pretty close to the price of a TC Finaliser. Take the price of those plugins all together...you could get a UAD card with Pultec Eq, Fairchild, Precision multiband and other choice plugins (in fact, for that price, you could get almost all of the decent UAD plugins...if you include the price of the Flexi-pak with the $500 voucher). This guy obviously has no appreciation of the market or business.
If you seriously wanted to impress a client...would you load up a plugin and boast about your fantastic new "SOUNDS BETTER-IZER"
I wonder when he's going to release his ROGER-IZER? In fact...a ROGER-IZER at least would have good snigger value.

I thought about getting Eqium/Firium at one point...scratch that idea. $300+ for one plug-in does not work on a music teacher's salary. Bummer...

Gotchya ttoz. That makes more sense.
@Kritikon: Don't worry, the small developers have to agree to sell before they can be bought out.....NEVER SELL...MAKE YOURSELF.
I understand the temptation....the small time dev's have a hard time living off of their earnings....they work full time or part time jobs and run their software business'...when some big ass comes and waves a bunch of money at you, you say..hey, I'm in a tight spot, this guy's offering me a way out. The rest is, well, what this has become. Oh well....another soul lost.

A line of plugins will start to gather dust if support for new OS editions and new host revisions is not there or is available only at a prohibitive cost. This is bad news for anyone who supported EA.ModuLR wrote:This blows!
However, maybe I'm odd man out in feeling happy that I purchased everything before this crap... I have absolutely no need for updates, as as the current suite of plugs work great.
