SS2 and SS1 Content

Hi,
I have loads of SR SS1 libraries and SS1, and I like the look of SS2. This is more for the new features of the engine, (all those outputs alone sells it), than the new content, but I did prefer the SS1 content to ST1.
Can SS2 play the content from SS1?
Thanks,
Roger

I think that SS2 can only play its own sounds. You'd need ST2 to play everything. But with the new SS2 content, I am perfectly sure you won't miss anything from SS1 anyway, including the older expansion libraries.

SS2 will not play any content but its own. If I remember right, most of SS1 is in SS2 (plus a lot of new content) but there are some things from SS1 that aren't in SS2.
Personally, I think the red ST2 interface is ugly compared to the SS2 interface, but as long as you're not using the LE version, you can at least adjust it.

If you have SS2 then the crossgrade price to ST2XL at ESoundz isn't bad.cleverr1 wrote:Thanks guys.
Looks like I need to buy ST2 to support the old libraries then. Shame, because I would lean towards the SS2 sounds given the choice.
Less expensive alternative if you don't need the ST2 bundled content: Buy a package that comes bundled with ST2LE - for example:
- Squids Tron Collection v1
- Special Edition
- Symphony Strings (a favorite of mine)

Either way, if you list dougsyo as a referral when you buy, you'll get another $5 off your purchase to boot.

Sonik Synth 2 is such a huge leap up from Sonic Synth (the original) that you might find you don't need to use the older libraries. Certainly the quality of the major instruments groups is on par with the current Capsules (although the capsules have more variety and are more flexible). Personally, I used to use all the Sonic Reality ST1 libraries - now I mainly use a customised version of the Sonik Synth 2 library.
If you're not sure, see if you can find a store with an installed version of Sonik Synth 2 that you can spend an hour or few checking out in detail. I genuinely recommend it.
