I've just been looking at some of the Bonus RAW RX2 loops on SPSE. And one thing has got me confused.

When I load the files into HALion (v2), the .wav seems to be a different length compared with the RX2 sample.

For example, looking at the 105_tambourine samples:
  • The .wav is 405475 samples long =9.19 seconds, that is 16 beats at 105 bpm.
  • The RX2 file is loaded and converted to a Rex file by Halion, which says that the file is 549861 samples long and 12.47 seconds.
I get similar results when I look at other RX2 files.

Can anyone confirm this (in HALion or another sampler or sequencer), or is the HALion RX2 import playing up or have I got confused and done something daft?

TIA

No, this very well could be the case. Rex2 files have an original tempo and a "Playback Tempo" where it automatically snaps to. So, they can vary. This is one of the head scratchers we're dealing with (original tempo vs playback tempo). So, while we work out what we're going to do on the Wave and Aiffs we might as well release the REX version of RAW since it is done and we need to keep moving forward (can't keep sitting on products forever). But, there are some decisions to be made there. Oh, by the way, anyone who buys the REX RAW in the first month can also be a beta tester for the Wave and Apple Loop versions since you qualify for it anyway. We upload some files for you and you let us know if it is working okay in your system. Entirely optional of course.

By the way, even the 50 RAW files will be updated on the SP SE update coming some time toward the end of next month it is looking like.
