don't know if this has been answered, but what's the newest edition of the inspector (free) installer? mine is 1.2.2.

We have received many requests to add support for iLok copy protection over the years, so many customers should be pleased by this change.

I am *not* suggesting that the guys are EA are being untruthful.

But people also request unnecessary and painful medical procedures ("Munchausen syndrome"). And, of course, there are sadomasochistic fetishes, personality disorders, etc.

But to actually *request* iLok protection? Why? Is this some smug warm-and-fuzzy feeling that they would be stopping some punks from stealing something that they paid for?

If there was an anti-piracy solution that actually *worked*, and was a minimal inconvenience to the customer, I'd be among the first in line to use it.

Oh, I'm sure "many customers" are jumping for joy.

Reminds me of the ridiculous YellowTools statement that dongling their shit is a *good* thing for customers. It isn't, period.

It's odd seeing that as being a quote of mine! There are parts of the email that I only scanned and that was one of them. If anyone ever made a suggestion like that to me, I'd send the boys in white to go pick them up. Is there any possible rational explanation for a person to request iLok? Is this similar to the girl I dated who wanted me to strangle her and beat her up while we were f**king?

Who are these people!?

For the record, masochism in a sexual venue I can understand (even if I don't share the desire), but asking for that kind of pain when it comes to software...?

That's okay. It was more trippy than bothersome. The important part is that we track these alleged iLok-requesters down and make sure they don't reproduce.

actualy it was rediculously easy to get a cracked version of all the eas plugins. simply replace dll, and load in serial. sources will remain unsaid

twas considered by me too, but the usual argument, that one could've chosen some competing product instead and so it's harmful to competitors even though one may not care about cracking the plugins, when they are now owned by this lovely dude, is still a valid objection.

There needs to be a concealed pin, coated with some neutering agent that shoots out at the finger upon insertion into the computer. At the very least.

Copy protection that causes more problems for the supportive user in contrast to giving a freeloader a better experience by way of its absence is ridiculous.

you know, i realy think rogers buisness ideas are realy sleazy. so nobody can get the free inspector anymore so now they have to pay a shitload of money for xl because the free version was selfishly removed. thats realy makes me angry as a legit user because here i am willing to pay for what i use and this guys comes in with a big fu and force feeds his software down users throats. this move makes me wonder how many other little guys are going to remove all free software versions they offer or are working there way up to the screw you level
