Too many cool companies are getting swallowed up. I guess it's the way things are going to be. If you can't beat em'; buy em'. This one is very disapointing. Eqium and Firium are two of my favorite plugs. EA's support was always good too. I can and will continue using them, but I won't be going with any iLok version to stay with them. I'm just waiting to hear the Sonalksis got bought up too. That will really make it a bad day.

It sure would be kick ass to developers and the whole music community if people would just buy all there plugins!
Sonalksis will never be bought out trust me^_-

I know it has all been said but those GUI's are ri-god-damn-diculous!!! Those are too f**king funny,, ANd then $350 a pop for the new plugs?? Completely out of his mind..

The good news in this unfortunate mess is that Elemental Audio will update the original plugs once more, including Intel Mac compatibility, and free of charge.

I suspect Mr. RN will have to revise his pricing policy, even if the re-branded plugs ship with his presets. Who needs presets? We don' need no friggin' presets! Right?

Oh wonderful... Elemental Audio stuff discontinued. I always had high hopes for that firm, I used Inspector, have Inspector XL too and it's the best K-Meter toold for a fair price. But if I look at this... new deal. Ridiculus.

Chargind twice as much as before, same GUI, same engine. Just because of Pace, and just because "Roger Nichols" is standing on it. It's as with Waves... They produce a plugin that can roughly cost 200USD as bundle, but because it has the title "waves", it costs 600USD (Mastering tools for example).

It's a shame, really. Nobody took a feet into this section. Elemental Audio were one of the first who supported the K-System. I really hope nothing similar happens to Kjaerhus Audio or Voxengo.

And pirating stuff? Sad but true, Pace is always one of the first things to be cracked. And even if that stuff is cracked, a lot of people are still buying the material, or are scared off cause they realise that it's actually "crap". EA made a lot of money with the "introductionary price" of 89USD" (it never went up to the planned 219USD for iXL).

Maybe there's some more BS involved with this deal. But I also have to say that it's EA's fault for not raising the prices (as example the iXL again) or sticking to year-old tools.

Again it's a pity. But I'll think about it twice before I "move" to RogerNicholsDigital - if ever. I mean I still use a over 2 year old 30band EQ from DiscoDSP that wasn't ever updated. Still works like a charm. Until Windows Vista (64bit) comes out...

No deal offers yet, but they are looking for VST freeware for their CDs.

He is a world famous engineer maybe he is going to redevelope the plugins or something. My friend did work for him at Sony.

... Now, why doesn't it surprise me that Rogerizer and Sony have connections. Maybe he learnt his consumer appeal from such a well-thought of company like Sony. (I really am being extremely ironic here, for those that aren't aware of the complete scumbaggishness of Sony...is there anyone that unaware?). One can now assume that RND customer support will take a similar nosedive as the presentation and pricing.

So...to re-cap, he's vastly increased the price, he's made them sound silly, he's added an iLok, and he deals with Sony. Am I missing something, or is this an active scientific experiment to see how quickly you can bankrupt yourself? Apart from the actual quality of the plugins themselves, is there anything whatsoever in there that is an incentive to buy them now?

Probably he donates millions a year to the Republicans...just to round off his character nicely.

It's interesting to read the response from places like Sound on Sound too. It's not just hobbyists and amateurs that are pissed off about this one. (Not that all at KvR are hobbyists and amateurs...but this place does have a certain natural bias).

And...I was nearly going to rant on about piracy; EAS stated they had problems with piracy...we have to take them at their word etc. But then that bit about lots of requests for iLoks ?!

Unfortunately that statement means I can't believe a word EAS say...which is sad.

So maybe piracy wasn't an issue...they just clouded the issue by bullshitting us.

I happily use a Syncrosoft dongle...never had a problem and don't have any issue with them, but even I wouldn't actually prefer to use any kind of dongle than not use one. I really can't imagine anyone stupid enough to prefer having a dongle than not having one, no matter how trouble-free they can be. Even if only from a price point of view...who in their right mind would prefer to spend the extra $40 than get a working version dongle-free for the actual price on the box? That's just plain lying. Now EAS are trying to make themselves look untrustworthy too...and so far they haven't copped for any flak - they were a good company. Please, please, EAS...don't make dicks out of yourselves too...

Though I do not post here, I do read the forums on occassion.

I think it is unreasonable to imply that Elemental Audio is lying about requests they have received simply because you would not make the request yourself. It is a fact that some people actually like iLoks and prefer them to having to keep track of many different serial numbers or worrying about challenge/response protection when they upgrade their systems, etc.

Just because something is uncommon in your circle does not mean that it is uncommon everywhere. Just because you've never heard of something does not make it a lie.

This is just a voice of reason, but I don't expect it will make much difference. It is much more interesting to be unreasonable than to be reasonable.

Thing is, I recently d/l the ea demos and have been playing with them and really liking them...but not at $350 a pop....ah well...life goes on...
