Hello
I'm running anEMU-0404 sound card. 512mb. 1.6ghz. 80g hard
Ive disabled my onboard sound.
I've been successful running Reason3 through Rewire to Cubase SX.

I have two questions...

1. when I hit the start button from Cubase the Reason drum sequncer plays through Cubase as a Rewire channel.
BUT, why is there a hesitation on the first beat of the sequence?? The sound is there but annoyingly delayed, but catches up to the beat in a milisecond.
If I set the sequence to loop it does and there is no hesitation.
Any idea what may cause this?

2. Running the same set up...How does one record the drum sequence from Reason (through Rewire) to a Cubase track? The Rewire channels in Cubase have no record or monitor buttons. I have tried just hitting record button but nothing.
Everything else seems fine. I play VST instruments through Cubase midi channel and record fine.
I play analog audio and record just fine.
How do I get Reason songs into Cubase SX. I suppose I could export Reason as a midi file and paste it into Cubase, but seems like there would be a more direct process.

thank you all,
X

Reason doesn't have MIDI out, so you either 1) export your Reason tracks as a MIDI file, or 2) bounce your Reason tracks to audio via ReWire.

The reason why you have that glich is that the ReDrum sequencer needs to receive the start command before it starts, which will throw the timing off just enough. Use convert pattern to notes to write your pattern changes to the Reason sequencer as notes and you'll be fine.

Hi
thanks for the quick response!
As for the drum glitch...I used the <copy pattern to track>.
The glitch still is there but less noticeable although still weird.
I was using the drum sequencer to provide rhythm track for experimentation with varoius VST so this is not really a problem.
However, something else is strange. The copied pattern is 2 bars. I set L +R markers in both apps to 1 and 3 and loop on in both apps. The loop plays but intermitantly will stop playing...the locator bar keeps moving and it will pick up playing the next loop!
And sometime when it comes back in playing it really accents the first beat.

I've looked up <bounce> in my books. no success. I knew what that was when I used my old Tascam 4 track but now am lost!
Any help with directions on bouncing drum sequencer to Cubase audio? Is it done using the EMU Mixer from my sound card?

thanks loads!

Hi
this is X back again...I've been doing some reading.
I've read that in CubaseSX I can go to <devices> <reason> and enable additional rewire channels. The first two channels are being used by the Reason <hardware interface><audio out> 1 & 2. The Reason Redrum sequencer plays fine through the Cubase Rewire channels. Then I can go to Reason3 and connect a cable from the Subtractor <audio outputs><main> to the <hardware interface><audio in><channel 3>. I have enabled Cubase <Reason channel 3> This theoretically should let me play the Subtractor through Cubase on <channel 3>.
The Reason <audio out> shows <rewire slave mode>.
The meters on the <audio out> show a signal on 1 and 2 only. There is no signal on the 3.
So obviously no sound from the subtractor through rewire to cubase.
QUESTION: MIGHT THE PROBLEM BE WITH THE EMU 0404 REMIX MIXER??? i HAVE FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO KNOW WHAT INPUTS AND OUTPUTS (STRIPS) TO USE ON THE REMIX MIXER. I AM USING THE <PRODUCT DEFAULT> SETTING WHICH HAS WORKED WELL UP UNTIL THIS POINT.
ANY SUGGESTIONS???
THANK YOU
