Proposed colors (flats). Joe and I hashed out the final layout and made some nice changes.

The overlay is provided to eyeball the controls as they will be positioned (roughly) on the final.

So at this stage, the layout is 100% completed (positions and controls) -- colors are pending Joe's approval, and as promised I am posting progress here for all.

Will continue working until I have to go to church tonight

P.S. The flats are the beginning of the UI. The others (rough and overlay) were approximations/work done to get to this point. The posted graphics will not be used at all in the final design but the concepts and basic shapes will be.

Looking really good in terms of organization. I think the green on the delay is slightly over-saturated in comparison to the other colors and thus it jumps off the page more. With a bit of de-sat, I think it will go more 'olive' and will sit better in the array of fx. Actually, I think all the colors will be more beautiful if brightened and then desaturated just a little. Just my uninvited 2 cents.

I cannot wait to see what you'll do with this GUI. The phaseOSC thing is a joy to behold.

Ok, I just got word from Joe that he wants what green there is to be more "green green" and less "pea soup green"

I also desaturated and brightened the colors to an equal tone.

Here is the adjustment

and here is the proof the tone is equal (overlay with an adjustment layer with sat 0%):

I would not use any of the colours used in the stomp box area in the amp area ie. not have the brown and green in the gate and tremelo. basically differenciate the amp area from the stomp box area with either tone or colour.

looking forword to seeing this..

mr. tingle; it's already setup that way. only the pedals will have color - the other image, as i explained is just a work layout which colors were used only for simple organization and not for final application.

I like the desaturated tone!

How about a suggestion to swap the Delay to white (BOSS delay in mind) and the overdrive to the green (tubescreamer)?

Not that you have to copy their designs or even insinuate that the virtual pedals are emulating them. Just a thought.

I mentioned that to Joe. I said "Joe," I says.. I says "Joe, what pedal colors would make the most sense.." I says, "are there common colors for the effects -- the most notorious pedals could then be made that color in homage and to make everyone who is used to using the best pedals comfortable with FreeAMPs design". And he says "I don't know, Rick." He says "I am not sure because I've played bass all my life so I don't know what pedal colors to use either.."

So I says.. "Okay then Joe."

I says "Okay."

Sorry I'm in a whacky-ass mood. I was stuck hanging out with someone who talked like that. It was pretty funny. 90% of the conversation was them saying "So I says" and "So he says" and them again going "So I says, I says, " ... It took alot to not bust out in laughter after I noticed them doing it.
