That's the first thing I found that made sense.
Welcome to kvr, maximg.
Anyone else here know a better suggestion?

I've looked at the issue of encoders (as in affordable) off and on for several years now with no good answers, I'm afraid.
<flame mode on>
you could always go for the hardware version of the same thing if you like to toss money into a big hole.
I've those installed in our HD truck and the encoder failed within 2 months with not a peep from the SRS about repair procedures or return.

Well, the thing I assume he's refering to is the Windows Media Player
WOW fx, which is one of those old-school phase-decoders that doesn't make
multichannel audio but simulated surround. There's lots of VSTs that do
that but I can't actually think of what to reccomend. Isn't it WaveArts that
makes the surround-like thing with 3D reverb in it? I've gotten to use that
before - I thought it was really great.

oops...
I've tryed some, I forget which, but have been more successful with tweaking the phase of signals after rendering to audio.
( I really want a way of encoding instead )

What is implementation of Phaser to obtain a SRS-WOW simulation (dual-channel)?

If you read the discourse on how the SRS or Dolby Prologic encoders work, you approximate the encoding manually.maximg wrote:Hello Deaf!deaf dunderkwac wrote: I've tryed some, I forget which, but have been more successful with tweaking the phase of signals after rendering to audio.

It's not an implememtaion of a phaser, just a manipulation of relative phase/levels between tracks. (delayed by so many samples)
I change, I listen, I change, I listen...
I only do this type of thing if:
A. The work requires it.
-or-
B. I'm bored silly and need a distraction.
I can't justify purchasing the SRS software but I might have to get the Dolby AC-3 encoder/decoder in the future (which is not the same thing at all, of course)
