Note 2 Freq Cutoff?

Quick question - I imagine this is done easily in FL Studio or with freeware:
I am playing a synth, I'd like to use a LP filter to cut the frequencies off at the note one octave above the note played. So if I play A4 (440Hz) I'd like the cutoff to be at A5 (880Hz).

Gotta be easy? I'm just a little braindead right now, long weekend :)

that's called KT(keyboard tracking). means you control a parameter by keyboard note. You need a synthesizers that allows you to KBT the filter.

If you setup your synth to produce a sine wave, you don't even need to bother with a filter ;-)
My MusicCalc is temporary offline.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. :borg:

ooh, you've given me an idea for a midi plugin, although it wouldn't be very precise. You'd have a scale where you set the frequency range of a given plugin's cutoff frequency parameter, and how it relates to its parameter value in CC steps. The frequency of incoming MIDI notes is calculated, and then the scale is used to find the nearest CC value for that frequency on the cutoff parameter, and it sends out the CC message to the synth along with the note on. Like i said it won't be too precise, but it may be interesting nonetheless. perhaps when i have some free time.. .:)
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

cool idea haydxn!

I am using a synth w/o tracking with an external filter, trying to easily get it to track.
The problem with tracking, I find, is it can be tough to set a filter so that it is always exactly one octave higher than the synth note.
Perhaps I should just use a different synth.

Are there any synths available on the internet? :-o

you could use my plugin - philterkeyz - route the midi to philterkeyz and your synth. Then set your synth one octave down.

Link in my signature. :-)

Eureka!
cheers, scuzzphut :) I actually have the plug already  and it does just what I need. I was halfway finished building an ensemble (sic) in fl. This is much more efficient, thanks.

btw, 6.5 is one of my staple plugins. I find I will throw it into songs that I hadn't intended to use it just to listen to what happens. thanks again!

As a matter of fact, just download everything from scuzzphut because

1) his plugins are awesome
2) the ones you can't understand still look like they must do something really cool
3) you have an excuse to say "scuzzphut" which is in and of itself very fun
I hear it's pronounced like "shuzzbutt" which was Mork from Mork & Mindy's way of saying "ah shucks"

 yeah, rhymes with shuzzbut

thanks for the encouragement gents. glad you like the plugins :-)

ouroboros - you might want to have a look at Ubergate - a plugin I coded for electronisounds.com - 6.5 on steroids :-o
