Emagic ESX question

Has anybody else had problems sampling with Logic's ESX? When ever I try and sample any type of audio, ESX never "remembers" the sample upon restart. The first time I sample and create the instument all is fine. When I close the song and re-open it, all I get is a harsh white noise type of sound. The patch name is loaded in ESX but the sample is gone. It's really frustrating owning a sampler that doesn't sample!! I've followed the manual to a tee but I still can't get it to work. Thanks!!

I'm using Logic 7.1, so I have the latest version of EXS. I'm basically bringing in raw audio files (AIFF) into EXS. Doesn't ESX automatically convert them into into ESX files? Should I be doing something different? I've tried the project manager and to be honest I didn't know about the EXS manager. What is that? I can check that out tonight. Thanks for your help!

No, the EXS doesn't automatically do anything. Open the instrument editor, create a zone and load a sample into it. Save the instrument, and use the EXS browser to open it - you can now play it and hear what you are doing, add additional samples, layer things etc...
A recap - you create Sampler Instruments (*.exs) files which "point" to any necessary samples, and when you load the *.exs file into the EXS24, it loads all the referenced samples. It sounds to me like you aren't saving your edited instruments...
EXS Manager is a third party application that does similar things to the project manager, only a bit nicer to use.
