Well, the fact that the master volume slider comes after the fx, for example any limiters we might have there.

then raise the threshold on your limiter if that's the problem

ex.25 tracks in the mixer with different volume settings but needs lowering cause they clip!
instead of using the master fader to lower the overall volume u could use this function to lower all the chanell sliders at once and avoid using the master volume!

lowering the master volume isnt the best way to avoid clipping the master channel!
also reduces bitrate i think!
Actually if you dont want to limit/compress and not lower all the tracks indivisually (who would do that anyway?), lowering the master or master master volume is the only way to fix a clipping problem. And yes it lowers bit-rate but that's a problem that exists in all digital.

A lot of the problems listed in this thread is really just not knowing how to or lacking common sense

Err, it's just a stupid little thing, but i'd love a 'per channel' switch between record midi input to piano roll or to step sequence.

the point is, fl started as a step seq. and the stepseq is still very useful for a lot of things, at least to me, especially when you have different channels stacked it's a breeze to get an overall look to the pattern and tweak here and there. as things are now you have to go to prefs menu and turn the switch to 'midi input to steps' and although it can be done it's just not comfortable enough.

ideally i'd have a toggle switch for every channel to switch between pianoroll and stepsequence view, and it would stay like that whatever thing you throw at it, even swing templates. also i'd like the possibility of sequencing the fpc via the step sequencer, in a easy way, as it is i rarely use it.

fl could focus more on the step sequencer side of things, it would make its strong point among the competitors, think about step sequencing on-off channels or fx automation via special control channels, can this be done actually? well it seems that almost anything a guy says here can already be done, so i thought i might ask : )

I like FL as it is...just some changes.

Locking MIDI controller to one channel...I'm tired of switching channels back once I record a new audio take. Let's say I'm recoding audio and MIDI at the same time, which in fact was the case. Every new take is selected (green light) and you need to switch groups back (from "audio clips" group to ALL group) and re select the piano channel (grrrr)

Stop switching between groups automatically, I hate them in first place, you don't get lost once you organize all nicely on the ALL group.

Ability to link (relative or absolute) the sliders on the mixer.

Non destructive, slip edit on audio clips. (fade in/out, ability to reveal hidden parts (like Tracktion) without having to select "sample region / full" on one audio clip. (this is perhaps the most important feature I'm wating for)

A rework on the audio engine, it performed way better on FL5, they should make this an option...is not fair to lose performance because some people using M-audio cards had problems.

That would be all.

Oh! and I die to see that DJ'ing software they are working on.

1. Different colors of different effects in mixer. I already brought this up on LoopTalk, it's easy and don't think it would cause many problems

2. Infinite (hypothetically) mixer tracks & patterns

3. Ability to define own shortcuts

4. Record without using ASIO. I have an Echo MiaMIDI, the WDM or so drivers work much better than the ASIO one

5. WMA export (no one really uses OGG)

6. Track freezing

7. Elimination of the Send Track. Honestly, if any track can be a send track, I'd prefer to have 68 mixer tracks rather than 64 + 4

More coming later

5/4 def is :D so is 9/8 12/8 and many others i like to put all together to make some crazy stuff..

I would like to see how you do this stuff, hink has taught me alot, maybe you can teach me something :D
It's pretty simple. Adjust your playlist to group to the "line" (via the grid button):
Image
four 5/4 measures and five 4/4 measures (with the host set to 4/4)
but as you see, the numbers dont correspond to the measures, and that is rather annoying.(you obviously normally wouldnt have a 4/4 measure overlapping a 5/4 measure, instead you would have, measure 1 as 4/4, and measure 2 as 5/4 etc.. and the measure numbers would line up... the playlist would change according to time sig markers like other hosts)

but thanks for your help, seriously :D

to an extent, yes... but your way of doing things may not be good enough for others, consider :)

indeed!

it would be nice to have a few keys that were not assigned that you could use to trigger certain things, yes...

would ASIO4ALL work for you?

no offense, but who uses WMA? OGG is probably the best quality lossy codec out there --- and its great for compressing the wavs in the demo files...

i think there could be several implementations of freezing in FL... but so far gol hasnt cared

Yes!!
I get what you mean :)
I use this in Audition a lot. Would be great!! I#ve got used to it, so working is no real hassle, but it would help a lot

I didn't realize I was nobody (I use only wav, flac, and ogg).

Another one:

PlayList should be infinite, or at least much longer from what is it now.

Numbers ends at 999, and the rest of bars are blank...and yes there is a limit of bars (being numbered or blank) I have tried with a veeeery long project.

Track freezing? only if it's practical because is not hard to bounce things using ALT+R on the mixer.

I would like to be able to change the midi out channel on each note in the piano roll...in other words, now you can select up to 16 colors each a different midi channel, as many know I think that's one of the best new features...but I would like to be able to change what channel an already existing note...so say I have a note playing on channel 4, instead of deleting the note, changing the color and putting the note back, I wish I could just change the channel on the note that is there...if I'm missing something let me know :)
