I'm considering buying Live5. Therefore i'm collecting the negative aspects.
What i've found so far:
No folder tracks.
No screensets.
Come on, tell me how awful Live5 is!
Pls tell me, what is not good in Live5

So now i have a nice groove going and i decide i want to throw in my own beats over it and load Impulse, if i drag any drum samples, they will also be time stretched (which you don't want), so now i have to go back into prefs and select "Unwarped one shot".
See where this is going? It's better to have this option as a selectable button within easy access .
>> Once your song builds and you record to the arrangement view to create a song structure, there will be times when you want to drag files within tracks back and forth to arrange/rearrange things. If the song is busy with a lot going on (lot's of tracks with files etc.), dragging the files can be sloooooow. And no it's not only about having an up to date computer, there have been many complains on this from different users with setups that are mor than adequate.
>> If you create your own wave files, you cannot save it by dragging it onto the browser. You have to save the song self contained and then it can be DnD from the folder for that specific song. Once you know Live, you will see this doesn't flow with the program.
That's all I can think of for now.

Its a great program but...
1. Controlling rewired devices from Live suffers from unwanted delays that are dificult, if not impossible, to compensate for.
That is, Reason and the like should be run with their sequencers and not in Live's sequencer.
2. Only the first hundred VSTi parameters can be automated. In a complex VSTi this may not be the 100 you are looking for.
3. Tempo automation causes problems with long audio files if you start the playback just after the tempo change.
4. Program has a tendancy to not work, without trashing your config file, after 'daylight saving' time changes.
5. No bezier style automation curves. Its 'join the dots' only I'm afraid.
So you get to do 'draw your own piece wise linear' curves.
6. CPU hit is higher than other hosts.
7. Some users appear to have compatibility problems. Clicks and pops on the audio output. My set up runs very sweetly however.
8. The built in phaser effect sounds terrible.
9. No easily mutable clips. Clips always play in arrange mode unless the track is off.
10. Can't loop or automate audio clips unless warp is selected.
11. No overlapping clips on one track in arrange mode. ie. no auto cross fade or even merge clips mode.
Clips thus non desctructively overwrite each other.
12. Preview wav files in browser always applies warp. [Might be wrong about this, but I can't find a way of turning it off on the fly]
Thats enough of the whining from me. Its a great program and I use it as my main host/sequencer.

great program ... but
it sometimes "forgets" it's preferences settings ...
if it locks up, it always crashes my PC too (very annoying)
being unable to loop un-warped clips is a pain ...
you can't assign just the headphone out to the headphone output on your laptop,(you can only assign to the outputs on your soundcard) i can't believe they haven't sorted that out yet ...
and yesterday, every time i started it up, it opened in a minimised window on the toolbar ... haven't figured that out yet
it's my main writing/arranging tool, and it keeps getting better (mainly) ... you do get a lot for your $ too

The main thing that kills me about ableton is that there is not a dedicated EQ for every channel!

you can loop unwarped tracks if you use the follow actions. not ideal but it has helped me a fair amount of timesSynthbuilder wrote:Its a great program but...
